ok I need an mp3 player one with video playback AND a 2.5 inch screen or lager. games would be nice. AND NO UNKNOW BRANDS OR CRAP!!!
I submit this as feedback, I require no further support from Sony.
In the past I did have the unfortunate experience of purchaceing a Sony Computer. I required a new copy of one of the CD's that came with it. After approx 30 tries with parts dept, I was unable to solve the problem. This took place sporadically for over a year. I finally solved the problem by removeing a few good parts from the unit and throwing the remains in the trash. hard to do with a system that operated for a little over 6 months and then sat for over a year... I swore off Sony. But to my dismay my oldest daughter recieved a gift from a well meaning aunt, one nv-a806 video MP3 player.
Unfortunately as often happens with kids, she has lost the CD that came with it. I thought to myself, hey its worth a few hundred bucks why not try that old Sony support road. Yup, same old grind, no software can be downloaded, gota buy a cd from parts dept. with great disgust I have smashed the nv-a806 and purchaced an I-Pod. Hey its cheaper than the aggrivation Sony will provide.
for those that dont know, Sony uses a proprietary software, you can get some parts of it to work, IE MP3 ( I did this by getting a copy of Sonic Stage from another user) but not video without the original Sony disk. to load on video requires a software called 'Walkman Launcher' go ahead, try to find it.
My advise, see if you can get the software from the web b4 you buy anything.
I have the same type of mp3 as you, but it was the 8GB black one. I bought the origianl leather case as well. After 2 years, it is still working perfectly. BTW, the program for images and video is the Image Converter. The Launcher is just a screen with the music, images, and video option for people who don't look into their computer to see what programs have been downloaded by the cd. Regarding the cd, it's really your problem to what happened to the cd. If you did lose the cd, have you tried actually going to the customer service at the sony store, not just on the internet(it seems this is what you have been doing). The NW series was good. Now there is the newer version with the bigger screen, which even supports bluetooth. A message to the creator of the thread: if you are still considering an mp4, I hope sony is on your list
The newer Sony players from the last couple of years don't need Sonic Stage. Actually, you don't need any additional software. If you have it, you can use Windows Media Player or just do drag and drop through Windows Explorer. I didn't even bother using the cd that came with my NWZ-A816.
Maybe it's just me, but the mp3s that I download-some of them do not have proper names and details. Sonic stage in the cd has this ability to help me organize and find the actual name of the song and the other information. I don't know whether other programs such as windows media can do that, maybe so.
Anyways I want to ask (that is if you are talking about the new series with has a bigger screen and bluetooth, NOT the newest one with the noise cancelling ability), does the new series still work on Sonic Stage? I would prefer to continue using it.
i'll recommend iriver spinn which come with a 3.3" AMOLED touch screen. It screen is bright and detial and they are simply the best.
Check out the player, it has 4GB and 8GB available.

iRiver SPINN Supports Flash Lite UI which mean you can drag and drop flash games into the machine. If you know how to progarm flash, you can change the interface as well. Plus touch screen and unique spinn control, you are going to have a lot of fun.
My LG portable multimedia player bought used minus CD -- videos only import if converted via software supplied on the CD. Only an upgrade is available on-line in English.
Luckily, music can be drag and dropped, but LG's use of proprietary systems and patchy support will deter me from buying the brand.
Sony also annoying -- Korean friend bought Sony camera in London with only European languages manual. Went to Sony Korean site -- could not download Korean manual unless camera bought in Korea (apparently a local measure against grey imports). Then found that Sony cameras (and Sony Ericsson phones) only use M2 memory -- that costs way more than SD memory used by almost every other brand.
I haven't used one, but it has a 2.5" screen and can play videos, and its a major brand name. the editors seem to like it. not sure about the games, though.
Great solid mp3 good alternative to ipod nano.
