Help with finding the best-sounding MP3 player

by gardoglee - 9/28/08 3:40 PM

I'm planning on buying a new mp3 player and my decision is going to be based mainly on sound quality. From my research, these are the 2 that look the best, but I'm having trouble deciding which one to choose. If anyone can give me some advice or recommend some other great sounding mp3 players (although i am pretty set on one of these 2), let me know.

iRiver Clix2 (8GB)

Sony Walkman NWZ-A829(16GB w/ bluetooth) or NWZ-S-series (16GB)

I have always been a Sony fan (although never have had a Walkman), but the iRiver got a higher rating on Cnet and it seems to have more features such as flash lite games, fm radio and text viewer. I know the Sony Walkman doesn't have an fm radio, but another thing to add is if anyone knows if it has a text viewer.

So, which one should I get, the iRiver Clix2 or the Sony Walkman?

Thanks for the help.

Will you pop for great headphones or speakers?

Look at http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/grado-sr125/4505-7877_7-30618197.html?tag=rb_shell;rb_mtx

Very nice and can let your player shine.

yeah sorry i forgot to mention i am gonna be using it with high quality earbuds. right now i have the etymotic er6i's, but i am planning on moving up to either the shure e4c, se530 or se430. i think it's also important to mention i'm gonna be playing just standard mp3's, no ogg or flac, etc.

I remember that there was an article before on CNET about the best mp3 in terms of sound quality. The Creative ZEN Stone was the top I think. And the ipod came in about third. Check it out
