Just in the USA.

Here the spare parts, support and repair turnaround time can be lacking. I hear in Europe this name has better support and more. For the USA I'm going to write "avoid."

Ehh, Asus is very... budget

I wouldn't buy a high end Asus. It's kind of like buying the most expensive Vizio TV, that money could be better spent on a quality machine. Are you buying it as a gaming laptop? If not there are many better, lighter (6.6 lbs!) options out there. $1000 can go a long way nowadays on a good laptop.

@ neverforgetJeff - I'm not going to do alot of gaming on it. Atleast not "hardcore" gaming. I'm just want it for school purposes and for an entertainment device (I got to pass the time between classes :P). What computer do you recommend, if not the one I posted above? I have a budget of $1000 and I want more of a "more bang for my buck" computer.

Here are a few goodies to pick from.

I did some research and found these three beauties. Let me know if you need a smaller laptop because these are all 15-17" and 6 lbs or more. That might not sound like much, but I got so sick of hauling my 15" notebook to school I bought a Acer Aspire One for my classes, and leave my full size at home. The Dell is surprisingly my favorite of these. I hope this helps!

Acer Aspire AS6920-6886

Pro-Blu-ray, great entertainment book. Con -low battery life, heavy.
