Audio Signal Routing

by Jazzyjeff10 - 9/16/08 6:31 PM

Is there a way to route an audio signal through a computer?

Example: I want a game to be playing through my headset, but I also want to have music from my iTunes playing through my speakers, and have INDEPENDENT volume control of each.

Would I need 2 sound cards, or is this even possible? I know i could just not be lazy and hook my iPod up to the speakers, but where's the fun in that.

I've seen this in Linux. Can you jump ship?

There are a lot of discussions about this on Linux. But for Windows, I have yet to see any notable success stories.
