I wanted to buy a DVD player for my SO's birthday and was wondering if it'd be smarter to purchase the Ps3 or 360 instead. He mentioned wanting a DVD player... or a 360 play DVDs. However, while researching options, I noticed that the Ps3 is highly recommended as a Blu-Ray DVD device.
While he does play games every now and then, he doesn't play them often enough nor does he desire the 360 to play games... so my question is, how is the 360 as a DVD player? And does it make sense to purchase a nice high end standalone DVD player istead?
Thx in advance
Not fined tuned as a dvd player. The PS3 however is well acknowledged as a fine bluray and dvd player.
does he play games or you have a 1080p tv and what do you consider "high end player"?
he's more of a PC Gamer and currently doesn't have a console or a TV. He plans on getting a flat screen in a few weeks... and i think he'd play some games on either the 360 or PS3...but it'd get the most use as a DVD player.
I own a XBOX 360 and I like it very much, and while it does have a DVD player built in, XBOX invested in HD DVD which is now dead.
The PS3 has a DVD and a good Blue-ray player, which is the future, and the only format capable of reproducing HD for his new HD TV, already built in. So absolutely I recommend getting the PS3 if he doesn't own ether unit yet.
the ps3 is a lot nicer than a dvd player though and maybe make good use of it in the future.
