i tried out a couple of these programs and they really work great
would you mind sending me the links to these web places you gave me .
thank you!
Starting-up and shutting down is taking long in Windows.
I used to use Linux since 1995; at that time it was not easy to install, I was happy to get help with it. Nowadays Linux is very good in installation and within less than an hour you have a fully installed computer (OS + many applications); Windows and Mac cannot cope with that. But Linux uses in most cases a PC as platform, I decided to change to Mac. Since over a year a Macbook, which was more and more confiscated by my daughter. So I went for a Macbook Pro.
Starting-up the Macbook is in about 30-45 seconds and shutting down costs <10seconds.
AND you don't have to use the START button to shutdown like in Windows.
I'm now busy with installing VMWare Fusion and MS-DOS, Windows and Linux (probably Ubuntu or Xubuntu). The VWWare was done within 5 minutes, but the MS-DOS and Windows give me some headaches. I want to re-use some old programs, like WordPerfect 5.1 in which I made a big report for school. It took MS-Word for Windows many years to be able to do the same.
Sorry for the variety of subjects, but maybe it might help people who are strugling with Windows and thinking of other platforms.

Hi Mate,
I have CCleaner which is FREE but you say it's CCCleaner ? People have also posted replies to say that CCCleaner and the other software are not FREE. Maybe you meant CCleaner ?
Thanks.
What is your opinion of the ccCleaner register fix?
None of these downloads in which you suggest are FREE! Oh they are free to download and scan but then in order to repair the issues one must purchase the program! Is there truly any complete FREE registry cleaners in which one can download and NOT have to pay for the fixes??????????????????
christopher hawley need to download the free versions of CC Cleaner and Advanced Windows Care Personal. Not the paid vesions, but the free ones. Both programs are fully functional, make all the fixes they find and don't expire after a trial period. Check your sources before you post, please.
... Offer your top responder as someone who advocates going to spyware/malware websites to get supposedly free programs to fix someone's other problem. Seems like it's trading colon cancer for a brain tumor.
I looked up the freeware programs in your latest recommended reply. and both were flagged as bad places to go.. within seconds I had porn popunders
I thought better of you...
I wrote a post that should have gone to you but ended up about 2 or 4 posts down the thread. Could you check it out? I can't believe that I screwed this up......well.....when I think about it, yes I can. LOL.
Note: It is not free. It's only a trial, and only takes care of the first 6 items that it lists.
CCleaner is good; I've used it for over a year and always use it before shutting down, as well as periodically thruout the day before I take a break. I also bring up AVG Free to run scans periodically, as I also do with SpyBot.
I've also tried installing Norton Internet Security and tried running the scan, also when I take a break from the PC.
My system also is still slow when shutting down, after trying all these software. It takes about 1-2 minutes before it completely shuts down, and this is AFTER I've shut down everything, including any Windows Explorer (of folders).
Worst of all, after following some of the advice in removing some programs at startup time in order to speed it up as well as reduce RAM usage, I cannot now update some of my web files using Microsoft Office Live! I've tried looking at the differences between this PC, and one that works, and cannot see the difference!
"Note: It is not free. It's only a trial, and only takes care of the first 6 items that it lists.""
WHAT!!
where are you people getting this stuff !!!!
I've used Advanced Windows care for years and IT IS FREEEE!!!!!!!!
You state that you went to a site that flagged such software as troublesome. What site are you referencing? I would like to know
such information myself. I don't do major surfing but I do like to
cruise. This info could prevent some major malware. I just went through alot of what everyone is writing about and with minimal
web slow lane cruising, I picked up 48 major threats that were
reporting back all sorts of things about myself. I also have a stupid question. Why is Gates allowing this? He could write the code to the system to kick this out. I mean do we really think he has to deal with
these problems like we do? So, those are my 2 questions. Location of
your data and any info on why this isn't outlawed or remedied by Gates
Any site that starts to scan your computer and ANY download that says "UNKNOWN LOCATION" of download. "UNKNOWN LOCATION" of download,, I was a victim of this today and had to use my ghost backup to fix my pc. It blocked my Registered to: info with a WGA popup on my task bar, removed my C drive in windows exployer, removed the RUN command, removed the CONTROL PANEL , removed ALL my programs in the start menu, disabled REGEDIT , and my computer kept trying to connect to the internet to download a spyware program!!!!!!!!! These people that make things like this should have a virus sent to them that would EXPLODE their PC and fry their their hands so they couldn't us them anymore!!!!!!!! Some countries cut off peoples for stealing , sounds like a good idea for North America!! Just my opinion.
Hello, No mention was done of how many RAMS the PC had.
I had this problem years ago... my PC was slow... so I clean it up with some free softwares.. and I installed more RAMs.. after this it was faster... to boot up and shut down...Many drives are large, but still they need more RAMS as you ad programs, applications, games etc.. I always find the memory manufacturer has on a new PC is not enough for that large drive... so new PC I installed more RAMs and my PC runs like a freight train.
Hope this help
I've used Advanced Windows Care for years and have NEVER paid a cent!!
Cleans everything it finds. Go to IOBit to download the FREEE version
