A Friend purchased Pixela Image Mixer Version 1.0 "required" to use with her Sony video recorder for image processing etc.
As soon as the CD was inserted, AVAST alerted to a Root Kit
Win32: Root Kit-GEND {RTK} VPS Ver 080905-0508.
I remember the earlier Root Kit issue with Sony Music CD's.
I assume that this is related to DRM for this program.
Is this now a normal DRM action? Also, if in fact the user will not violate the license in any way, is there any reason to not install the program???
if avast says it is a virus ten dont install it. there are plenty of other video recorders and editors to use
Is it a CDR or "recorded" media? I know I ran into this and more as some bought that CD over Ebay. It wasn't the real thing and has something extra on the media.
one of many, many thousands continuing a lifetime boycott of ANY & ALL Sony products due to repeated disregard for it's loyal, paying customers best interests in favor of it's own greed.
After the CD music disaster, trashed machines & multi-hundred Million Dollar law suits (many by the Artists themselves), they to this day, APPARENTLY (from your post), still haven't got the message and therefore re-justify the on-going boycott. Use your best judgment w/ caution. JMHO.
The afore mentioned "we" won't have to worry about this nor the laptop recall etc.,etc. Best of luck! ![]()
