pc tools spyware doctor

by gigsngra - 9/3/08 6:48 AM In reply to: Just bought laptop, What should I use for anti-virus, ect? by explosion81

hi i now use pc tools spyware doctor. It does the lot it has spyware, adaware and antivirus all in the one program. I was using ca antivirus and while it was picking up the viruses, trojans etcc and it said it deleted them but they were still there. Ca also has 24/7 support. We emailed them the messages we were getting on screen. Ca emailed us back links to rectify the pc illness the links did not work so hence the viruses and whatever else we had in our computer were still there.

Within a few days of my husband installing spyware doctor on our old computer which had all the bugs spyware doctor was picking up instantly all that was in the system screwing it up. Now spyware doctor has only been on the old computer for 5 days it still continues to find any bugs that may be in files which i have opened up to have a look to see what is there.
Pc tools spyware doctor also has real time protection and a pop up window in the right hand corner which lets you know of potential threats to your computer and gives you the option to keep blocking the bad ??? or allow it depending on what it is.
I GIVE IT A DOUBLE THUMBS UP 100% SATISFACTION FROM ME.

RESPONCE PC TOOLS- and News Being bought out by Norton

by GEO2003 - 9/3/08 11:39 AM In reply to: pc tools spyware doctor by gigsngra

Agree with you on Spyware Doctor.
Can be downaload for free from Google Apps.

Even though is very Good, still mainly more accurate with spyware then it is with virusus specially the critical.

I don't remember the full name but their Anvitivirus Antispyware Doctor solution is paid subscription on cover both

BAD NEWS THOUGH, PCTOOLS IS BEING BOUGHT OUT BY NORTON.
Depending on how they integrate the product into their products, PCTOOLS utilities may end up bloated like Norton.

Just bought laptop what should I use for anti-virus?

by Lazy_lizzard - 9/5/08 11:09 PM In reply to: Just bought laptop, What should I use for anti-virus, ect? by explosion81

HI there

I have been using Avast! free anti-virus for years and have yet to be disappointed- this is for home users but they do not check you up. I have 2 computers, desktop and laptop and as I use the one for work I bought the Avast! Pro and am very happy with both.

YOu still have to "register" your free Avast!, but you go to website and choose one of the options ...new user, old user re-register and they promptly send you a registration nr. They send you a reminder every year to re-register and it's as simple as I mentioned above.

On a decent Anti Virus Program

by Tim De Lord - 9/6/08 1:07 AM In reply to: Just bought laptop, What should I use for anti-virus, ect? by explosion81

Yeah, I agree. I personally use Live One Care. Every now and then, you will catch it on sale, for $15 to $25. Along with say, some nice adware removale software, and being wise, on were to, and not to, on the internet, you should be fine! I personally found, that live One Care, is VERY user friendly!! Just click the tune up button, and it defrags, does disk clean up, checks for updates, both windows, and for the virus def's, a really nice, non ram hog software!! ;) Good Luck!

avg free works with me....

by jhformosojr - 9/6/08 3:59 AM In reply to: Just bought laptop, What should I use for anti-virus, ect? by explosion81

hi bro:

mabuhay :)

on my part of the globe, i strongly encourage my clients to use avg free antivirus from grisoft (though, they have the commercial version which you can buy if you are satisfied with the free version and want the additional features). however, the free version is all i need for antivirus protection - just religiously update the definition files (which you will also do with other packages). aside from this, get ccleaner (a registry cleaner, but there's more to it) to complement avg free. other than that, you're system is safe and sound. but if you are really serious against pc nuisances, why not install ubuntu linux in your brand new system - it's safe and secure, i.e., no worries related with pc-based headaches.

Antivirus---- please purchase original

by prabodh79 - 9/6/08 12:06 PM In reply to: Just bought laptop, What should I use for anti-virus, ect? by explosion81

hello,

I would say, its always good to purchase an antivirus rather than going for a free one. If you are spending more time on internet then in my view Kaspersky internet security 2008 is the best. You can download it from their site for a 30 day free review and then decide if it suits you. Norton is still popular but it uses lot of memory(RAM) which is not good for daily use.

If we think of performance, reliability, quality, price, company image etc.. etc then kaspersky is far ahead of Norton..... believe me do not go for free antivirus, because you will get better service if you purchase it. i think its fare enough to spend some $$ to purchase antivirus, rather than wasting your time on solving virus problems and other PC problems due to virus. Sometimes free antivirus do not catch advance viruses, and you will notice those when you see an unpredictable behaviour by your operating system say windows XP/vista.

i hope you understand why i insist on paid anti-virus......
Cheers.....!!!!
