Well after about 7 years I decided its time to say goodbye to my old PC and get a new one. I've looked at so many at stores and in magazines but each has either 1 or more things I don't want to pay for. Or it lacks that 1 thing thing I'm looking for. So I think I'm better off having built myself. I want it for gaming (enough to play Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 at ok settings when they come out) but also for video editing as well (cause Windows Movie maker isn't cutting it anymore). So how much am I going to end up spending? I'm trying to keep it at least under 2000 bucks (1500 if I can manage it.) I'm probably going to be stuck with vista as well.

You'll probably want to bump the RAM (comes with 1GB), the disk space (comes with 80GB) and video (comes with a low end card) but you get a pretty good bang including Vista and XP Pro for $$.

Before I am able to recommend any parts and such, it would help if you could answer a couple questions.
1)What is your experience in building a computer?
2)What size case are you looking for?
3)Will you be needing to get a monitor too?
1. little to no experience. The most I've done to my old PC is add RAM to it.
2. Case?
3. Most likely I'll need a new monitor.
Alright. Building a PC is no easy task if you don't have someone or something to guide you. I would recommend reading up on some guides you can find online. One guide that I've used before is one on Tom's Hardware
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/building-pc,511.html
This provides a bit of a summary of how to assemble a computer together.
Assembling a computer can be a challenging task, but you'll feel accomplished once your finished.
My question about what kind of case your looking for is more specifically the box that's going to hold all the computer parts. Most people use a mid-tower. But I will let you read the guide first and get an idea of what you need to do. Good luck.
