Backing up my Yahoo Instant Messenger archive
by Mondler - 11/11/03 10:36 PMHi. I'm about to do a clean install of Windows on my computer and I was wondering if someone might know how to back up the YIM message archive. I'd like to be able to save my conversations but it's way too taxing to do it manually one by one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

go to
C:\Program Files
\Yahoo!
\messenger
\Profiles
\youryahooprofilename
\Archive
\Messages
and move these files to a different folder. (i.e. C:\saved-msgs)
Then if you re-install YIM, just move (or copy) them back,
However I've yet to be able to read the archives without using the 'message archive' feature on yahoo instant messenger.
