Willdophalis,

All of them are good! Which one were you leaning towards, and why? I’ll be able to help you further with that information!

TV Decision

by willdophalis - 8/26/08 7:54 PM In reply to: a little more info... by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

I am leaning toward the 81 , maybe the 57 inch model. From what I can understand, I will get the best picture quality from this model. It's a bit pricey, but I always go for the best quality. I have a 60 X 36 inch built in that I want to install the unit in. I was a little concerned about the viewing distance. I"m looking for something that will give me the closet thing to a theater experience in a TV. I don't know if the 52a650 will give me that. Another concern is warranty, I'm told that unless I purchase an extended warranty, should I have problems with the set, I will have to package it and return it to Samsung(Is that corrrect?). I'm in Jackson, MS 39110.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

9 Series is this year's LED LCD

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 8/30/08 10:10 PM In reply to: TV Decision by willdophalis

Willdophalis,

The 81 Series is a LED backlit LCD panel. The amount of colors that this panel can display is enormous. It was last year's top of the line unit. If you like the 81 series, You might want to check out the 9-Series LCD TVs as well, as those are also LED LCD backlit units and our top of the line product for this year.

Viewing distance is usually 3x the screen size (corner to corner) from screen to nose. Of course, personal preference comes into play here, but I would highly recommend you don't get something too big.

As far as the warranty, if it is a Samsung Authorized Dealer you’ll have one year parts and labor. If you register your TV, you get an extra 90 days. Extended warranties aren’t a bad insurance policy but that’s completely up to you. My only advice is whatever you are promised, have in print.

I’m not sure what service centers are in your area but you can call 800-SAMSUNG to check. If there is a Service Center within a certain driving distance, they’ll come to you for most problems while the TV is under Samsung warranty.

Hope that helps.

Concerning screen size ad viewing distance, 3 times, is that minimum viewing distance or maximum?

ln52a750 firmware

by willdophalis - 10/20/08 7:56 AM In reply to: screen size by willdophalis

If I order a ln52a750, should the distributor of the prodct be able to tell me if the firmware is the latest or not? I want to order this set, but I keep reading about firmware issues, and that's the last thing I want to deal with, especially since my wife keeps telling me to buy Sony.

Not really...

That information isn't stamped on the box, and I'm not sure even if you called in the Serial Number that service would be able to confirm firmware revisions.

However, the old firmware issue is resolved, and new units will not have shipped with the one that had the issues.

If it doesn't ship with the latest firmware, you can fix that with a thumbdrive, and the process doesn't take much time at all.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
