by koppandson - 3/20/08 11:01 PM

i've got a new dell inspiron 530 desktop with a ati 2600 hd xt 256mb video card in it. the card has dual dvi connectors.

i have another video card ... the EXACT same. same model # and all.

can i install this card to run more than 2 monitors? i want to run 3 monitors total

thanks in advance

If you mean install the other video card

And leave the existing card installed also, then no. Your motherboard cannot accommodate the extra card as you only have one PCI-E slot.

3 monitors

If you want to use 3 monitors and utilize both video cards I would run them in x-fire mode. If your cards and board support it. The use a product like this

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/digital/home.php

It is essentially a video splitter that will make your 3 monitors like 1 very very wide screen monitor.

Would you happen to know what video card slot the Dell Inspiron 530 has? I want to upgrade my video card from nvidia 8300gs to nvidia 8800gt(requires pci express 2.0 slot) and i dont know if i have the right card slot for it.
