Recently, I have started getting pop-ups on my computer from AntiSpyware Master and PC Privacy Cleaner. I tried removing the PC Privacy Cleaner from my computer but it didn't work. These things interfere with getting much done because they pop up so frequently. Any suggestions on how to get these annoying things from my computer? I'm about to pull my hair out.
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or alternate download link
* Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
* Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
* When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
* - Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* - Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish.
* MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
* If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
* On the Scanner tab:
* - Make sure the "Perform Quick Acan" option is selected.
* - Then click on the Scan button.
* The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
* The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
* When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
* Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
* Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
* The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* -- Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
**If you encounter this message:"c:\program files\malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" Click on ignore mbamext.dll

I just had this problem myself. This virus is easy to get!!!!
I down loaded antispyware (free addition) and it worked well. You can tweak this product too...
I 100% recommend Super AntiSpyware. Has saved more than one computer around here. Wasted three days trying to get rid of one of those invasive things that NOTHING else would touch, not even the "cleaners" made just for it. Finally found Super AntiSpyware and *bing* it was GONE. Free, but donations welcome, and deserving of every penny you would send.

Your suggestion was the first that I received. I followed your advise and so far, so good....it seemed to take care of the problem. Thank you!

"Antispyware Master"? I found that "malware" on a porn site... caused me some sinificant frustration also...
The offending porn site informs you that you need to download an Active X file in order to play the movie/video on said porn site. The "Active X" download link actually links to a malware site. If you download the file when prompted, you are actually downloading the malware. When you install it you are activating it! You are then presented with continuing pop ups which insist that you are already infected with a virus (or some such). If you download the suggested antivirus program (in this case "Antivirus Master", you are (in fact) downloading the same type of malware again (usually this is an executable file which is approximately 476kb to 483kb in size)!
The malware in question deposits an ".dll" file into your "c:\windows\system32 folder". This ".dll" file then acts as an ".exe" (executable) file, which continually asks you to download the same antivirus program.
The only way to solve this issue (without downloading someone's antivirus/antimalware software) is to remove the offensive ".dll" file.
In my experience the ".dll" file was Russian in origin. I noticed the ".dll" files signatures in my "c:\windows\temp" directory which is how I knew what had infected me (e.g., malware - not a virus or trojan - thank God).
The only legimate ".dll" file I am aware of that ends with "ru" prior to the ".dll" extension in the "c:\windows\system32" folder is "kbdru.dll" file; this is an language support file from Microsoft. I repeat, this file DOES belong there! Do not remove it - it is part of your language support!
Any other ".dll" file in this folder which ends with "ru" prior to ".dll" extension (example: "domru.dll") would be a suspect file. You may verify it's authenticity by checking it's properties. If it's not a "Microsoft" file it is likely a "malware" file (and will not identify its author under "properties").
I first deleted the offending malware ".dll" file and then the file signatures it had deposited in my "c:\windows\temp" folder and registry. Yes, the signatures are also deposited into the registry! If you copy the signatures (e.g., a file that look weird, example: "qrwxvytb" (or anything similar) and it does not show an extension after it, that is a signature file - I repeat these are found in the "c:\windows\temp" folder and also in the registry). If you are not familiar with the registry, I would NOT suggest you try this. If you're comfortable with working with your registry, simply use the registry "find" feature to locate the same signature files located in the "c:\windows\temp" folder and delete the "key" in question. I am unsure if it was necessary to remove them from the registry also, but I did.
Once the offending ".dll" file has been removed (i.e., deleted) and the signatures also deleted, you shouldn't have any more problems with the popups asking you to install some bogus antivirus software...
...unless you inadvertantly download more malware from some pornsite!
!!! Important Addendum !!!
the ???ru.dll file is NOT the only malware out there!
I also found one other (originating in Taiwan) but I can't seem to locate my information on it!
Sorry... If I find it, I will post it accordingly!
Hello
My advice too you is download the FREE Spyware Terminator it has all you'll need in a software program its the best one I have used in years for protection it even run's in VISTA too. But you do know every spyware and malware program does it fair share of cleaning up the mess that’s out there so no one get's it all a few people will say they run two or more and I guess I do to have more then one MS Defender Spyware Terminator. So check ST out and the best of luck too you......RS Mundy
