Free software for vista that will condense videos

Hey, I have a couple of videos that i recorded using my webcam. However there HUGE so there hard to really do anything with i would like to show them to a friend but the transfer would take forever though messenger. Putting them on youtube is a pain also. Do you have any recommendations for free software for windows visa that will condense the videos and make them smaller?

I've used VIRTUAL DUB for years to do just this.
