USB Ports not working - HELPPPPPP!

by chaca88 - 4/20/06 2:16 PM

From some days ago, I am having big problems with my USB ports. I think, but I am not shure that all begun when I was trying to turn on my web camera (Logitech QuickCam Communicate stx), the computer (which is an Emachines T5026 specifications at the bottom of the page) didn't know that the camera was connected, same thing happened today when trying to print a document, the printer (Cannon MP750) was offline and the USB port didn't detected the printer. At the same time, my mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0) and keyboard (Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard) are both connected in other 2 USB ports at the back of my computer (4 in the back, and 3 in the front) and they are working properly. When I connect my iPod Shuffle in the USB port nothing happens and although, if I go to my computer the ipod is listed there, iTunes did not recognize as if there is an ipod connected to the computer. What is stranger too, is that "Safely remove hardware" icon dissapeared from the task bar and never work when I connect something. Maybe that's the reason but I am unable to know. I don't know how to install new drivers for my USB ports and nor how to make work the Device Manager which is not working neither, it is in blank.
In the Taskbar and Star Menu Properties I already tryed to customize the properties of the icon to allways show in the taskbar but it didn't work.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Well, does it mean that only your front USB-ports out of order?

Hi, and thank you for reply to my problem, but let me tell you that in the back my computer have four USB ports of which two are working because I can still use my mouse and keyboard and the other two are not because my printer and webcam are not working at all. In front I have three more USB Ports that are not working or better say they are working because are listed in my computer but are not detected by programs such as iTunes when I connect my iPod.

Disappearing Device Manager w/ Logitech QuickCam

by dofoxaz - 8/22/08 6:52 PM In reply to: (NT) logitech hell by Margie1802

I am working on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, Windows XP SP2. I am attempting to install a Logitech QuickCam Communicator STX. Every time I install the software, everything in the Windows Device Manager disappears. If I uninstall the Logitech software, the problem does not go away. I have to do a system restore to get the Device Manager back. I have tried to do an install with a 'quiet boot' as suggested by Logitech. Nothing helps. I cannot rectify the conflict with the entire contents of Device Manager missing!! Anyone have any ideas? This one has me stumped! Never had a problem with Logitech installations or operations before. HELP! I am about to mix a pitcher of margaritas and call it a day! Kidding.....

Try the usual and use the rear ports. Next install the motherboard driver package after check the BIOS to see that the USB ports are enabled.

Have the same machine?

If so, head over to intel.com and install their latest chipset drivers for your machine.

If you are not chaca88 and don't have the same machine, make a new post with all the details.
