question about new hard drive partition

by sciflyer - 8/21/08 2:31 AM

i recently installed a slave drive and formatted it NTFS in windows XP. i labeled it drive X. what i want to do is create 2 or 3 separate partitions and name them X, Y and Z.
how do i do this in XP with it already formatted? i do not want to purchase software if i do not have to.

thanks,
jim

Easy

Back up any data you've already put on the drive. Go back to the disk management tool and delete the partition. Then recreate the three you want in the size you desire.

when i originally formatted the drive, when i tried to create a partition, the maximum size disk management would allow was 8 MB.
how do i set the partition to be 6 GB?
