Nokia PC Suite won't work with SP3 either.
I can't wait until someone comes up with a better OS.
try the linux os, it is easy to use. soon, that is what i will be getting.it is free.you can have it on same computer if you want, with windows xp. or, just run it by itself.
Is there anyway to use (sync & backup phone) Nokia PC Suite on a computer with SP3? My system (Dell Dimension 5500) has not had problems with SP3. THANK YOU
Mine may as well be the weirdest... after installing SP3... not only did my custom visual style did not appear (the patch I'm using is for SP2), which was replaced with the classic style... the symbols in titlebars, dialog boxes, etc. have all turned into WINGDINGS! The Minimize button is now a folder symbol, the black arrow in menus that directs you to another menu is now a mouse symbol! The font that carries the original symbols is Marlett, and I do have it, but I just can't seem to open its font file through the system's viewer. Must be a sign... please help!
I've got a Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo P running XP and I've just updated to SP3. Now when I put a DVD in the drive it doesn't recognise that anything is there, although the drive does appear on My Computer.
What should I do?
The usuals.
1. Look at XP UPPERFILTERS on google.
2. Disclose if you use any CD/DVD emulators.
3. Go back with System Restore.
Greetings:
After the Windows XP SP3 Update my Canon IP4300 printer will
not print period.
I trouble shooted to the best I can.
Not even a test print will print.
But when I connect my printer to my Laptop with Windows XP SP2
printing works prefectly.
Has anyone else experienced printing problems with their Canon
printers after the SP3 Update?
Regards Robert
Windows Vista almost surely has preinstalled drivers for the IP 4300. Try uninstalling the printer completely and then let Vista auto install it and see if it then prints.
That may be all that you need, but you may want to install other help and diagnostic software which was supplied with the printer. Install and see if you loose the prinmter. If so uninstall once again and go to Canon to see if they have drivers for the IP4300 for Vista
A week ago I stupidly installed XP SP3 through an automatic update notification. After the update had finished installing and my computer rebooted I noticed two things had taken place. . . .
1) Zone Alarm did not load
2) I could no longer connect to the internet with IE7 or any other browser for that matter
I uninstalled SP3, and did a system restore, but that did not fix the issues. I have read several MS bulletins and several forums about how to fix the IE problem, but nothing seems to completely fix the problem. I am not able to connect to the internet. And I am totally frustrated.
PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE.
You have most of needed details but I often find it best to uninstall ZA first or if I am in repair mode I'll delete ZA via a Linux boot CD or other means. Then I can fix it. The fix varies widely but in this 100+ post you can't expect help from me as I have to page down to find your post. Make a new post please.
Bob
There are two ways to fix this.
1. Get a Mac!
or
2. Reformat your hard drive and start over completely.
Good Luck and thanks Bill.
Hi Rev56,
I had a similar problem (no connection to the internet) although I didn't use WinXP SP3. I tried anything, and eventually ended up reinstalling my windows xp, but to no avail.
After some frustrated moments, I thought it might have been that the onboard internet card had been disabled in the BIOS. You might imagine how happy I was when I found out this was the case - and as a bonus my onboard sound that was malfunctioning also turned out to be a bios problem!
So you might want to check you BIOS. Look on the internet for how to access it on your machine (mine was, press DELETE during POST) , and browse around in it. In my BIOS (Fujitsu Scaleo), it was in Chipsets -> Southbridge. Simply enable the device, save the configuration (for me that was F10) and your good to go!
Windows will automatically detect your onboard internet card and will look for drivers (if it finds none, enter the drivers and utility cd).
Let me know how this went (and stay away from SP3)!
Regards

We've put SP3 on a total of 4 PCs in our house. It seemed to be fine until you try to change things around on your computer. Recently, because we swapped 2 computers, on had to have a complete reinstall because of errors when trying to add and remove programs and hardware.
Basically Add/Remove Programs in Winodws has become very touchy. For the bigger more complex programs (i.e. programs that require drivers) I've tried to remove, they will usually freeze up during mid-uninstall and therefore not completely uninstall. Furthermore, doing this seems to also confuse Windows Firewall and the registry, which as may of you know is just a big can of wormy problems.
I know what you mean.
I did an update with SP-3 and it was a disaster. I rescued my own data and Microsoft was absolutely no help - in fact they made a bigger mess!
My advice -
Back up your critical data not "Documents and Settings."
Write zeroes and ones to your "C" drive.
Format your "C" drive.
Load XP
Load XP SP-3
Continue wth all the MS updates.
Load all your programs from scratch.
Load all the updates for your programs.
Load all your critical data.
You should be good to go but GOOD LUCK.
Microsoft sucks but it's still better that anything else.
NO VISTA!
BTW - Office 2007 sucks and Outlook has many unresolved issues. I went back to Office 2000!
Since installing SP3, whenever I write a CD and go to the software to make compatible (UDF) for pictures, or to save as CD for music, when the process completes, Windows crashes, and dumps the physical memory.
I don't have my system specifics handy, but I can get it if necessary, when I get back to my home system. It is DELL, running XP Home. Would this be a driver/software issue, or a hardware issue?
