I sold my old pioneer pro logic system which gave me surround sound for movies DVDs and TV channels but it was bought in 94, so I bought this Colby home theater 5.1 DVD PRO, scan with digital am FM tuner it only gives 5,1 sound through the DVD mode. that's what one of their tech told me i use to run everything through my Hitachi VCR, when i looked at buying this system it said nothing about you only get 5.1 sound through the DVD mode. now I am back to a to speaker system, i should have been happy with pro logic at least i had surround sound for my TV.do I need to buy a digital receiver to get my TV to play the 5.1 system. this is a Colby DVD 937 system,I can't understand why this wont play the TV shows in 5.1 Football is almost upon us !! is there tech right he did not seem to knowledgeable.
!!Any Idea's!!! disgusted
Most TV is not broadcast in 5.1. If you were using your receiver to get 5.1 on a TV station that was not broadcasting in 5.1, then you were using your receiver to simulate 5.1, as any 5.1 receiver will do. Most DVDs are mixed in 5.1, so you automatically will benefit from 5.1. Your combo unit only give 5.1 from DVDs because this is the standard requirement. Since most broadcast is not done in 5.1, I'm sure the maker of your unit didn't feel it was worth the extra cost to include this. This is probably common in combo units, or HTIB (home theater in a box). So why didn't you just go back to separates? That is always the best path to get the most flexibility and capability.
