Im looking at getting a projector for my apartment but dont have a huge budget( wanted to spend at most $700 most), so i was thinking of just getting a business projector until i move out in about 2 years. The two i was considering was the Optima EP 749 (which i can get for $425) and the Infocus IN10 (for $720). I wanted to hook them up with an hdmi cable though the dvi ports and connect a ps3, xbox 360 and a blu-ray player.
The only differences i could see is that the IN10 has a .7" dlp chip, no HDCP support, smaller, and 4000 hours lamp life, 1100 contrast ratio and 1800 lumens.
Where the ep749 has HDCP support, 2500 lumens,2200:1 contrast ratio and 2 vga in, but only 2000 lamp life. Overall the ep749 seemed liked the best buy for $300 less. What do you guys think? is the ep749 a decent projector for that price?
No HDCP No Sale, it will not work, mostly that port on the projector is useless & will not work on a PS3 or Any DVD dvd player w/ HDMI made in the past 4-5 years.
Save your money & get a TV!!! Those super cheap'o projector are cheap for reason, like no HDCP or the ep749 being 4:3; your going to get bars all around when watching Blu ray's or games will have the sides cut off because games now are widescreen or bars all around or squished look.
business projector are not the best at all for HT or gaming, they normaly are very noisy, run very hot, very few settings to tweek, poor color accessory, poor blacks, 4:3 (not widescreen) & more. For gaming I would not trust them, they could have 'Big' Lag times.
Get a TV or save up to about $1200 min for a project that is 'good' for gaming & compatable too PS3 & 360.
& you still need to get a screen on top of getting the projecter
hmm well then, that changes everything pretty much. didnt think about lag and aspect ratios at all.
so for tv's whats recommended now? I remember there was this whole thing plazma vs lcd. I heard plazmas give you better "cinematic" experence with better contrast ratios and better blacks but lcd's are more practical and no burn-in.
You Should consider a low end LCD or Plasma for $700. Projectors are not very practical TVs. Most people that have a Theater room for that purpose alone. Also every time someone bumps the projector you are gonna have to adjust the keystone. Projectors are not very bright, so if you have the lights on the picture is gonna be terrible.
No one can guarantee a certain price for you. Just shop and find the deals. Hey I got my PJ for about half off. But the sale ended in one single day.
Some to look into at under the 1k mark. A few have been lucky to get something for a steal. Prices vary month to month, as with anything else.
Optoma HD65
Optoma HD72
MitsubishiHC1600
Sony VPL-AW10
Sony VPL-AW15
I think the older Mits DC1500 is being had for mebbe $600. Just what some others have said. Someone got an even better deal than that with a coupon code at 6ave.
I hear a slight bias from someone I trust for the Optoma, but possible issue being needing more space. Otherwise the Mits.
Good luck.
I took a look at some and saw the mitsu for $700 and the hd72 for $745 are those reasonable prices you think?
