Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1010

by scibior16 - 7/16/08 5:49 PM

Does anyone know about the review for this new camera...it just came out last week. I'm wondering how it compares to the previous 1000 model. The only real difference I see is 1080p vs 1080i. Can anyone explain the difference or give recommendations? thx

Differences and Usage of Xacti DMX1010

Hi,

I am not very camera literate, but after much research and then ordering a HD1010 from Hong Kong I found that the newer model does have an 8M setting for stills (3264X2448) and then 4m-H and 4m-S.
[8M] 3264 X 2448, [4M-H] 2288 x 1712 (low-compression), [4M-S] 2288 x 1712 (standard-compression), [3.5M(16:9)] 2496 x 1408, [2M] 1600 x 1200, [0.9M(16:9)] 1280 x 720, [0.3M] 640 x 480 this was not on the spec's for the earlier model 1010? I wanted this feature and I can say the pictures are excellent and I am comparing to our Rebel 8.1 M Digital Camera. The steadiness is not bad at all by utilizing good technique and cheap but effective tripod (Gorilla or VS-Mini Flex pod) or monopod (I use a simple Walking Stick bought off Ebay for $12 with a removable compass knob that accepts a 1/4" X 20 TPI camera). The HD really looks good on our Aquos. Have not got wrapped around making any DVD's that is my next challenge and I hope it will be simple also....

Different between HD1010 HD1000

The new HD1010 also add the new face detection and 300fps slow motion. Read couple reviews and all said it is worth to spend extra for the HD1010.

Sanyo HD1010

Been using this new cam the last month. Great HD Video for the price. Shot two 1 hour videos indoors on a tripod with a 16 gig card on 1 and an 8 gig card on the other. The built in speaker picks up a lot of side noise. These videos were of local bands performing from a stage. I was upfront of the large and noisy crowd. Used the still photo feature while videoing. The jpg came out great. But, it stopped the video from recording ( the audio was still working). I usually stop video recording after 2 songs to make the editing more easy to use on smaller files. The video picked up again on restart. I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Vers 12 for editing. It works great with this cam.The battery lasted about 60 minutes of recording before I got a warning that it was low. The 8 gig card max was a little over an hour. The 16 gig card still had plenty of space after that amount of time.
