Exclusive alpha

by ktreb - 7/29/08 11:01 PM In reply to: You know what makes me laugh? by davviau

I was having a few problems getting to the forums a couple of hours ago. I kept getting a "page not found." And on the top of the page? "Exclusive Alpha."

The site has its bugs, but the new design has grown on me. I actually find it easier to get to the forums on someone else's computer (it's bookmarked on mine). Of course that is when the forums aren't being buggy!

Anyone notice in the beta all the free music is gone now? CBS must have pulled the plug on it.

Maybe not...

They've been updating the site in phases, so it's entirely possible that they simply haven't updated music.download.com and linked to it on the beta site, which has been the case with other parts thus far.

by mementh - 8/3/08 2:55 PM In reply to: Maybe not... by John.Wilkinson Moderator

Is there a way for me to ONLY use the beta site? or is it just random?

This computer i use at work can't store cookies when i reboot. :(

Well...

It's linked to cookies (not a user account), set for visitors at random, but if you are selected you can then copy your Cnet cookies to, say, a flash drive, and copy them back to the Cookies folder every time you use the computer. Tedious but feasible. (Location and ability to do so depends on the browser.)
