When I use any full screen program (usually games) it messes up stuff on my dual monitor set up. It messes up my secondary monitor by pushing part of the main monitor over onto it. It blacks out any programs like DivX and VLC I'm using to watch movies. It also pushes all apps off to the right of the secondary monitor. Is there any settings I can change that might fix this problem?
Play about with the resolution settings.
Many games we still get are set to play in a lower display resolution like 800 x 600, or even lower. When you start the game it resets the resolution on the monitor it is displayed on. With dual monitor setups, (I have dual monitors as well), the Desktop Wallpaper display will overflow onto the other monitor.
That's the way it works. If your games have higher resolution settings then that may help, but I doubt they will go as high as the display settings we normally employ nowadays.
About those movies though. These games are graphic intensive. Trying to use other graphic intensive utilities like movie players at the same time, even on the other monitor, is likely to be too much for most graphic cards, if not all of them.
It seems you can play the game, or watch a movie, but not both at the same time.
