I have a Nokia N82 phone and 400+ contact files in *.vcf files (from my older Nokia phones). I connected it to my PC with PC Suite buy when I copy the files in the contacts folder nothing appears on my phone. I have done this several times with my older phones and this is the first time the phone doesn't find my contacts. Any idea what could I do? I don't have the nerves to input them by hand.
what is the model of the old phone?
there are a lot of methods for contact transferring like PC Suite and with Bluetooth and so on.
MyWifeisdead,
How do you like the N82 phone? What network are you using it on? Are the keys small? is the screen small?
I've had my phone for about 1 month now. So far I love it!!! Key's are manageable. I'm able to text with one hand with while the other hand is on the steering wheel. I'm fine with the screen size. Provider is T-mobile. I got my phone from www.smart-mobile-gadgets.com with a 4 year warranty. The thing I like best besides the 5mp camera with xenon flash is it's ability to multi-task. I could listen to my music playlist while texting. Or take a picture while talking on my bluetooth headset.
The thing that I didn't like was that it has a self timer, but it's not able to stand on it's side on a flat surface. Not that I'd use the timer alot, but that's the only downside I've notice on this phone. Hope this helps ![]()
Hello, I have had a similar problem with moving some of my contacts from my old nokia to my N82. There was about 70% of it that made it from my old phone and the other 30% hasn't gotten transfered. In the old nokia phones or other old phones you have the option of saving the contact to either the sim card or the phone. Saving it to the phone would probably have stayed on the phone rather than on the sim card. . . well I haven't had your problem, but if it helps here's a site where you could talk to other Nokia n82 users...
www.everythingn82.com
Use Nokia PC Suite. It is downloadable from their (Nokia)site. It is free. You may have to buy a cable for your old nokia phone.
Another option is to take all the contacts off of the old SIM card, put them onto the new phone, and from there delete the contacts off of the old SIM card and transfer the last 30% to the new phone from the SIM card.
Tedious, I know, but it is much better than having to manually program in all those numbers.
Don't the new SIM cards have a higher capasity than the old ones? Can't you just use the new one to copy from the old phone to the new one.
I know with my N75 whenever you reboot from replacing the SIM card, it runs a check, and if there are any new numbers, then it asks if you want to add them to the address book.
Hope I helped!
