What are peoples thoughts on the "touchscreen revolution" that is taking over the world? Besides the ohhhs and ahhhs that go along with the fancy look of a glistening flat screen, does anybody NOT like the idea of a touchscreen phone dominated world?
PDAs have been using touchscreens for a while, and although there have been big changes in the functionality of it, it is nothing new. Are todays smartphones going to be as smart as when they don't have tactile buttons? I get uneasy thinking that someday I may go into my local cellphone store and not be able to get a phone with actual buttons on it. I'm partial to my Blackberry Pearl 8100(old school t-mobile version), I can whip up an email in seconds without even looking if I'm doing it on the sly at work or something. Without tactility, no-look texting is impossible..... right?
And I guess touchscreens just look and feel gimmicky to me. Yes they're beautiful but can they be functional for the busy professional on the go? For some people(like me) web browser, music, video, not important... MMS, E-mail, Email attachments, texting blazingly fast, very important.

I never really saw the big deal about touch screens. I have one on my palm and have for quite a while so what's so new? Of course I don't use the keyboard that's on my palm either unless it's just for txts or something like that. Anything bigger than a txt I end up using my Fabric wireless keyboard. It works alot better for my chubby fingers ![]()
i think with some people still heavy into emailing or texting, touchscreens won't be as appealing. Oh fabric keyboard. Never tried one.
I thought I would have been in the minority here. I don't even use a phone for business purposes, and while having a touchscreen has a certain novelty for the layperson, after a while the novelty wears off, and you just don't like it much anymore. After playing with an iPhone for about 3 hours (not all at once), I realized I couldn't do with only a touchscreen. The closest I think I could come to it would be the AT&T Tilt (don't remember the non-AT&T model number).
i really like the sidekicks (okay, the older ones aren't so great, but the LX and Gekko are good) because they have lrge screens and they actually have buttons, which is important to me. i don't like touch screen, no matter how good it looks. =)
and have you heard about completetouchscreen computers? *shudders at the thought* i've heard some rumors about desktops like that, and im not looking forward to those. =/
imagine the touchscreen home computer. People eating food and touching the screen would be so gross. Cheetohs all over the screen. It's a silly gimmicky Idea that I don't understand. Keyboards and mice are much more efficient than having to reach out and touch the screen. I'd think your hands would get tired (I know they come with Keyboards/mice) lol but I'm just saying.
You may be wiping orange cheetoh stains off your touchscreen monitor sooner than you'd like ![]()
