Newbie Question - LCD Flat-Screen TV Antenna Inputs
by rkmacdonald - 7/5/08 12:38 PMI currently receive my TV over-air, using old CRT analog sets. I have not looked at new TVs for many years, and now I am having a hard time determining if a TV can receive over-air programming.
I want to buy a new flat screen LCD TV and am looking for one that will receive over-air digital as well as analog. I understand that next year all analog over-air TV will be switched to digital. They say in the specs that a TV has an analog and digital tuner built-in, but they don't mention an antenna connection. I assume that most people will use these new TVs with either cable or satellite, but I want to continue to use over-air reception.
I can see in the specs that many new LCD Flat Screens have built-in analog and digital tuners, but they never mention an antenna input. How can you tell if one of these new LCD Flat Screens can be hooked to an antenna for over-air reception?
Is there some way on CNET to screen for TVs that have an antenna connection?

I believe most if not all newer models do have built-in tuner.
Go shopping and post back the model you like to get; we'll check it out for you.

Most have two; one for cable and one for the antenna. Plug in your external antenna into the coax and tune the channels. All TVs will search/scan for channels and list them by analog and digital.
