How did you know?

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 6/9/08 8:55 AM In reply to: hmmm by bevillan

BearVP -

How did you know our TVs cure cancer and lower the price of gas? That was going to be our big 2nd half annoucement. Are you hacking into our system? Do me a favor... Let's keep this between you and me for right now.

Side note - "The portal to God" feature is only available on our top of the line models. I don't want to mislead our customers into thinking they can talk with God from any of our TVs. That would be wrong. :)

I can see the advertising now... The New Samsung LCD HDTV with enhanced "Portal to God" functionality. haha... I think we are on to something. You should trademark that right now so we have to pay you off to use it.

Best,

Mr. Samsung

New to Home Theater recommendations

by tom.deena - 12/27/08 9:31 PM In reply to: How did you know? by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

Hey Mr. Samsung, I'm really happy with your products. I used to be a Sony snob and have yet to buy a Samsung product that's let me down. Tonight, I bought a 52" 750 model TOC LCD. I'm planning on beginning my home theater package with the TV but would like your recommendation for complementing components. I do have an HD DVD player but don't have the HD service yet. We also love our Tivo and have considered Apple TV as another complement. I'm looking for incremental bang-for-the-buck... Thanks in advance, Tom

How is it disgusting?

by John.Wilkinson Moderator - 6/14/08 10:52 PM In reply to: THAT'S DISGUSTING!!! by Riverledge

Samsung is purchasing advertising space just like any other company. If you look around Cnet' it's certainly nothing new...Best Buy is currently the sponsor of Ask the Editors Live! every Thursday, and receives additional advertising as part of the deal. And for years other companies, including Toshiba and HP if I'm not mistaken, sponsored the Cnet online courses until Cnet started carrying the weight themselves and, ultimately, cut the 'department' (firing/transferring the editors) to save costs. Unless the Cnet community decides to start paying fees to access the content it will remain, in part, supported by advertising of various forms, with this one being just a slight twist on the old.

Also, this has nothing to do with CBS. The Samsung forum deal was created early this year, before the CBS deal came to pass.

John

P.S. Note that the CBS-Cnet buyout has not yet closed, so calling them the new owner isn't entirely correct quite yet.

there's nothing disgusting about manufacturer access

by HD-Dave - 2/22/09 11:14 PM In reply to: How is it disgusting? by John.Wilkinson Moderator

Having Samsung here to advise and account for themselves is great. What's disgusting is that we havent seen any pics of the new models coming out or the new OLED demo from CES!!!

Account for that mr Samsung!

The answer to Why Samsung is........

by kcfvegas - 6/9/08 4:16 PM In reply to: Why Samsung?? by chesschess

Mr. Samsung and Samsung corporation are more aggressive, creative, and are MUCH better at marketing than the other companies. Kudos Mr. Samsung! As a business owner that deals with marketing all the time to promote my business, I truly appreciate a great idea. The other companies simply didn't think of it.

Now if only Pioneer would get off their behinds and offer to set something like this up for those of us who own a pioneer. (Sorry Mr. Samsung)

You have a legitimate concern but you shouldn't worry...

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 6/11/08 7:55 PM In reply to: TRUTH IS MR SAMSUNG COOL FOR SAMSUNG CUSTOMERS.............. by Riverledge

Riverledge -

I completely understand your concerns. You love the CNET forums and you want to make sure the integrity of the forums is not compromised. That’s a legitimate concern. What can we do to convince you that Samsung is only here to help people? Here are a few facts that might make you feel better.

1 - Samsung does NOT have an exclusive deal with CNET regarding the forums or any part of CNET. We have never asked for exclusivity and CNET would never give it to us. All of our competitors are welcome to join the forums.

2 - Samsung never comments on our competitors’ products. We only answer questions about our products.

3 – Samsung does not use our forum posts as advertising space. We provide the facts or our opinion or even a few jokes but we know this isn’t the place for advertising. This is a place for discussion, debate and assistance.

4 – Samsung will never ask CNET to censor any comments. We have no censorship or moderator ability. All we have is a little blue S next to our name so people know we are from Samsung.

Don't you think it makes sense for a Samsung rep to help answer questions about Samsung products? I bet other people will often have better answers to questions than we do but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to help Samsung customers on the forums – right? You have seen me on these forums for a year now. I never disturbed the peace before and I don’t plan on doing anything that would hurt the forums now.

If you have an idea how we can make this program better (or calm your fears) let us know. We are open to suggestions.

Thanks for your feedback.

Mr. Samsung

DEAR MR. SAMSUNG, YOUR POINTS ARE WELL TAKEN;

by Riverledge - 6/13/08 6:32 PM In reply to: You have a legitimate concern but you shouldn't worry... by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

FIRST, THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY MESSAGE; AS HARSH AS IT WAS.

SECONDLY, I RE-READ SOME OF YOUR RESPONSES, THEY APPEAR TO BE AS UNBIASED AS POSSIBLE.

ONE EVEN CONTAINED A SUGGESTION THAT ANOTHER MANUFACTURER MIGHT BE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR THAT CUSTOMER'S NEEDS.

AS I TYPE, I'M STILL USING AN ANTIQUE SAMSUNG SyncMaster 172W as a
MONITOR.

ALL MY FREINDS SAID STAY FROM "THAT BRAND"........THEY S*CK, THEY'RE
KOREAN, IT WON'T LAST A YEAR..........blah,blah,blah!

WELL, 5+ YEARS LATER IT IS STILL NEAR PICTURE PERFECT!!!

HERE'S THE DEAL; WHEN THIS MONITOR DIES......YOU'LL BE THE FIRST PERSON I ASK ABOUT A REPLACEMENT.

AGAIN, SORRY I WAS BIT MIFFED BEFORE YOUR RESPONSE,

Sincerely,

Riverledge. 06-13-08

As a Samsung product owner. I love the Idea. I have just bookmarked the site and will visit often. I Just purchased a LN52a750 I am wondering if there is a new firmware update out yet for it and also I ordered a Wireless link stick from Samsung parts and have not recieved it yet. I was wondering if when I get it if I can wirelessly download the update? Also do you have any recomendations on a Audio Reciever?

As a manufacturers rep in the music industry, I must applaud your patience with a certain customer when your intent to be non-biased was pretty self evident.

Congrats on a great idea, my company has been directly monitoring forums and responding to customers directly for the past two years. It's been welcome. We too are a Korean owned company and have had to understand the need to be a bit more creative and think out of the box for the current generation of customers.

Good luck and keep up the good work,

I'm based out of Brooklyn also...
