HD video burn to DVD

I have been looking for a nice HD camcorder and like the Canon HG10. But first I have a few questions.
1) Is it possible to burn the HD video to DVD using a standard DVD burner or do you need a Blu Ray / HD DVD burner?
2) I have a 720p HDTV. Can I play the video on it even though the video is 1080i?

2. Yes. It will be adjusted to fit the TV.
