Link Scanner Program

by jlippincott - 2/11/07 9:40 AM

I was wondering if anyone using the Link Scanner program put out by
Exploit Prevention Labs.
I'm using the trial pro verison and when I scanned a website with this program it said "Linkscanner detected issues with this site".
They also have a free online scan at:
http://www.explabs.com/linkscanner/
When I scanned the same site there it said that there wasn't any problems.
I find that to be very strange!!!!

DrWeb's link scanner tp scan a site for virus before it opens
http://www.freedrweb.com/browser/
Sitehound by Firetrust http://www.firetrust.com

There are also users using McAfee SiteAdvisor http://www.siteadvisor.com

Marianna has her thoughts on that LinkScanner service. See http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=192917&messageID=2084953#2084953

I checked 4 sites that said they were ok.Then Switched to Wot.
If you want one that threw up "Red Flags" get "Wot".
Realy i think "Wots" better than "Site Adviser".
If anybody uses this "Product<->link Scanner you better have your java script diabled before testing it...........

Linkscanner has been acquired by AVG

http://linkscanner.com/about/mediaCenter/pr_120507_01.asp

Their plan:
Short-term product integration plans include adding LinkScanner technology to AVG Anti-Virus Free and offering LinkScanner Online, a free on-demand URL scanning service, directly from the AVG web site. Grisoft also expects to maintain LinkScanner Pro, Exploit Prevention Labs’ flagship product, as a standalone offering.

As for WOT, I'm using WOT http://www.mywot.com also for IE and FF. It works great with SiteHound by Firetrust.com
I find WOT faster than SiteAdvisor in flagging bad website and it is going to inspire 'reviewers' in reporting to WOT like the way I'm inspired reporting to SiteHound because WOT and Sitehound are fast in updating their database which is very important for users who are using Google and browsing a lot.
