Hi,
I have an old computer with an oem xp install disk. I know that newer computers come with a partition used for reinstalling xp, and now my cd drive is giving me trouble. If I made an iso of my disk, would there be a way to set up a partition used to install xp? Can someone point me to a guide?
Thx in advance.
Your XP OEM disk is already an ISO and it's a far better installation utility than trying to run from a hard drive partition. Those who get newer PCs without CDs but with burners are encouraged to use the computer's utility to create recovery media on CD. If you're wanting to create a recovery partiton similar to that which comes with some PCs and Laptops, you need a way to boot to it if your OS is dead. This is usually something special in the BIOS and is proprietary. CD ROM type drives are cheap. If one gives me problems, I get another.
