Ep 740 - Video iPod Touch problem
by davviau - 6/9/08 7:17 PMWhen I sync Ep 740 - Video to my iPod Touch the video is only 16 minutes long. iTunes says it is 40:00, the listing on the touch says it is 40:00 but when I play it, the counter says 16:00. When I play it in iTunes it plays the full 40:00 minutes however the touch only plays 16:00. (I have unsubscribed and resubscribed to the podcast and re-synced the iPod. There is also 2.40Gb free space on the iPod.)
Anyone else have this problem?

When I looked in the podcast list on my Touch, it says it's 40 minutes. But when I play it and tap the screen so that the minutes show up, it says it's 16 minutes. It happened for both downloads. I didn't test this out for the first download, but I put the second download on my 5.5G video iPod and Sony NWZ-A816 and they played all 40 minutes. And I can also play the whole thing on iTunes.
It didn't really bother me too much since I already listened to the audio version. It didn't bother me enough to start a thread. But, when I saw Davviau's thread, I was going "me too!"

Hopefully, this is just a one-off.

I also noticed that if I stop the podcast, go back to the home screen, and then press on the video button again, it freezes for about 30 seconds. Also playing the video as an audio only (when you go through the podcast list under music rather than video) it plays through, but does not bookmark as it ususally would when I accidently play other video podcasts this way.
It seems to play fine on my Sony. I just passed the 18:02 mark and still going. I will try it on my 5.5 gen later. If it bothers me enough (and I'm not anywhere near that point), I may do a restore and see what happens.
CNET Live problems too

I went ahead and sent a message to CNET TV about this as well as why CNET Live June 5 won't download (can only stream it).

Apparently, they were trying to save some bandwidth by encoding the video using a different codec then the usual. Which is nothing more than fair, since CnetTV is a pretty big site and probably the one that uses the largest chunk of bandwidth among all Cnet.
They reverted it and now we ipod touch users can all rejoice thanks to Jason. Hooray!
