In both IE and FF, when I'm filling a form, the browser offers a list of previously entered information for that field. (e.g., if the field is for Phone Number, it will offer all 3 numbers that I have historically entered in the Phone number field)
That's handy, but for email address, it offers three, including one that I haven't had for more that 5 years. It's no big deal, except it got me wondering how one would go about editing that information to remove the unused info. I use both browsers (IE7 and FF3) on both XP and Vista (Win) machines and they all have it.
I use Google Toolbar with both. Might it be the culprit? Roboform Toolbar? I've searched the settings/options in both of those to no avail. All my other extensions and plugins have absolutely nothing to do with filling forms or remembering anything.
I'm baffled. Any ideas or suggestions?
TIA

Firefox, IE, Google Toolbar, and Roboform all support such autocomplete functionality, but only Roboform lets you modify what's stored. The rest only enable you to leave all or delete all and start from scratch. IE used to have a couple free tools for modifying such information, but they are no longer available. (Designed during the IE5 years.)
Sorry.

I wish you'd had a different answer, but thanks for the answer. It's a bit of a relief to learn that I couldn't figure out how to do it because it's not possible. ![]()

Sometimes the answers come when you aren't looking for them. Reading the new posts on lifehacker.com, I stumbled across this: http://lifehacker.com/software/firefox/firefox-tip--shift+delete-mistyped-autocomplete-suggestions-238693.php
It's so simple I wouldn't have thought of it in a million years.
click on the section where the email address is. When it drops down try to see if you can highlight it without clicking on it, then hit the delete key on the keypad. It should remove the entry you want to remove.
This works for the address bar, forms and logins, etc.
This is probably the answer you're looking for.
