Hey All-
Trying to figure out the best blogging software. Need to change the piece of junk 1and1 has set-up for my webpage. Any suggestions-
Looking for basic:
ability to change font (style, size, color)
spell checker
add pics and video links
not much else needed
thanks!
I used to like Writer (http://writer.live.com) but writer added extra coding into your posts that weren't needed and edited code that Writer deem fit, especially when adding flash video to your site. Currently I'm using Zoundry (http://www.zoundryraven.com/) and it's much better than Writer.
use word or open office to edit/spellcheck and use wordpress for teh blogging.
It pretty much covers all your needs. I think it has build in spell check, however I use the one in Firefox.
You can get the self hosted version at http://wordpress.org and you can get a hosted version at http://wordpress.com (you'll get username.wordpress.com, or you can buy the ability to use your own domain).
If you spend a lot of time in Firefox, there is an extension called Scribefire (http://www.scribefire.com). It can do what you ask and a bit more. The drag and drop feature is quite useful. It can be used with Firefox's built in spell checker, also.
I agree with SPIRIdk. Wordpress provides a robust interface to change font sizes, colors, layout, etc. Furthermore, it works great with plug ins for your blog. There is practically a plug-in for everything.
I just had to throw it in there...
I have used windows Live Writer.
I loved it.
Great support and it will talk to just about every Blog Hosting platform out there.
Great support to.
I say I "loved it" because I moved to a Mac and and I am looking for a solution myself.
Live Writer handles everything quit well, including photos and embedding video.
