Is it just me, or shouldn't the new 3G iPhone have a 32 GB option for storage. New apps to download coupled with movie rentals is going to fill that up pretty quick (for me anyway). Any thoughts on a 32GB or higher version this Christmas? What has Apples approach been in the past to the storage issue? I had my cash in hand, but think I might have to wait it out (again).
I've given up on the one-gadget-to-rule-them-all idea. I carry too much media, and spend too much time using it, to make the idea feasible. I don't care what Steve says, 3G is going to be enough of a battery problem as it is, watching a movie just isn't going to be all that doable.
So, as long as I'm carrying an iPod and an iPhone, I don't see the point in paying for a huge amount storage. I'll be using it primarily for documents and apps, and I don't see needing 32 GB for that.
I know there were no rumors about it but my 4th gen iPod is cranky and I want to upgrade to the iPod Touch. Problem is I don't want to do it until the Touch has more than the 40 gb in my current iPod...
Sigh...
Should I just get a Classic or keep hope alive?

Has anyone heard about any pricing change on the touch? I know it has to fit in with the pricing on the rest of the iPods, but the pricing doesn't seem to make sense with the new pricing on the iPhones:
8 gig: iPhone - $199, iPod Touch - $299
16 gig: iPhone - $299, iPod Touch $399
I assume the iPhone includes a 2 year contract -- is that the justification for $100 cheaper for the iPhone even though it can do more?
I can't go to ATT so I have been thinking about the touch. But not if they keep the prices the same.
I wouldn't expect to see any pricing changes on the Touch until at least September, when they usually announce new iPods or refreshes. I'm guessing that they would drop the 8GB model and lower the prices for the 16GB and 32GB ones. A 64GB could come, but I see that as a MacWorld announcement in January. I'm basing this on what they have done in the past, which is really not a future indicator and I am no expert.
As far as the iPhone, I believe those prices are with a 2 year contract, which does justify those prices. 2 year contract, at least $50 per month, probably more - including the cost of the 8GB phone you're locked into at least a $1400 over the two year period. Whereas with the Touch, it is a one-time expense.
They have a year or more on their current contract. Can they get the new phone at the subsidized price if they extend the contract two years? If not, what price do they pay?
You know Apple wants to sell a lot of new iPhones to current iPhone owners.
Me thinks the wife will want the new iPhone.
I really don't know what is going to happen with current iPhone users who want to make the switch. I haven't listened to BOL yet to see if anyone addressed that. What I do know (or think I know, I read this somewhere) is that in the United States, AT&T will pay Apple a subsidy (which allows the new iPhone pricing )instead of giving them a portion of the monthly access fees that with the 1st generation. So maybe AT&T will have some incentive to give 1st gen iPhone owners some sort of break.
otherwise you can buy a new one and only get a 2 year instead of 3 year contract. i forget where i read that, but thats the deal...
its actually really nice of them, I think. You just bring in your old iphone and walk out with a new one!

I wouldn't even hold my breath for a 64GB Touch until either or both Creative and SanDisk release a 64GB player. Then I wouldn't expect any such announcement until MacWorld. However, September is usually a time when they announce new iPods or refreshes (lower prices maybe?). Something could happen then.
hmmm... What's I'd really like is an iPhone 3G with 4.5" pop-out, flexible screen...but I think that'll take ~5years.
A 32Gb is pretty good, but a 64Gb iPhone would be a sure sell for me.
Actually...I think 16Gb is enough for all my podcasts plus 3-5Gb of music/pics/video.
Can someone tell me if I can do a Netflix "watch instantly" on the iPhone? If I can...hmmm... the screen is kinda small but...HHHMMMMMMM.....

Maybe they can't do one and keep it small like they want if you want a bigger iPhone then maybe a 32 GB iPhone will be soon but then people should complain that it will be a big iPhone.
but so would an unlocked version, they'd sell like Hotcakes! I'm waiting for that! (It could be a while)
one of their big announcements was how cheap they are now, the 32gb wouldve poopoo'ed that parade. yea it be nice to have the option, but we all know how controlling stevie is and how everything has to be perfect!
The new iPhone is cool and all, but none of the coolness (GPS, Touchscreen, Full Internet, Push Email, Lower Price, etc.) does anything for me. All I want to do is make a call on my iPod and not have to carry around an additional phone. I use my iPod much more than my phone. That means at least a 64GB one. I mean, I need my music, my photos and my BOL. So when Apple hits 64GB in either 2009 or 2010 is when I'll buy an iPhone and hack it to use with T-Mobile. ![]()
