So I was getting pop-ups for some Adware Defender and around the same times I got it, I haven't been able to access gmail, hotmail, search engines or even the download section of this site. Obviously I can get to some others like this site. I've tried Spybot, have Norton, and trying Trojanhunter now. I found a few things, but then it started happening again. Every once in a while I can use gmail for about 10-15 minutes, but then if I leave the computer on, I can't access it again. Any suggestions on where to look next? Any help would be appreciated.
Unfortunately, many Windows viruses make it so they can't be deleted under Windows. I'm sure Norton comes with a "Rescue CD", or something to that extent, which will run the scan before Windows loads. If they don't, Avira makes a rescue CD, free for download: http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/12/avira_antivir_rescue_system.html
I'm not sure if you really do have a virus, as the "Adware Defender" thing sounds more like adware, but a full system scan would be a good place to start just in case.
Thanks, will try that, and am also trying the previous suggestions for the Ad Defender thing, but so far is not looking good. By the way, am running Windows Vista if might make a difference.
Think it worked, or at least is so good so far.
