Of course I bought a wii fit. I have to find something to do with the wii. As a gamer it's nearly a complete failure. As a toy for the kids it works out well enough, but they often would be just as happy on a leapster.
I want to check out the down hill skiing, and if anyone in the family catches on to the fit all the better. It'll keep them in the toy room and out of the media room.
Love it, its a fun way to workout, and love the fact that my 6 year old son is completely winded and has to sit down to rest after playing it. If you are going to play video games, you might as well get in shape while doing it. For those people that dont like to use the gym or don't have the room for a workout machine in their home its FANTASTIC!!!!
I haven't actually pulled it out of the box yet, that will come after work today, however I have high expectations for it that I am sure will be well-founded. Wii Sports, Wii Play, Tiger Woods Golf, Barnyard, Rapolo Fishing, Rayman Raving Rabbids, even Endless Ocean are all quite well done. However Zelda: Twilight Princess is a washout in my book. Waaaay too complicated on how to control everything.
Hubby bought the Wii system for us last Memorial Day weekend. He thought it would enable his wife (me of very little finger dexterity and memory for ABXXY-GO to make the guy gallop by, swing a sword, pick his nose, and flick the booger at the bleeding bad guy in the distance) be able to have a way to play video games with him. And it worked admirably. Most "gamers" hate the Wii because it is too simplistic, but that is exactly what the rest of us love about it.
And to those of you that say we should get outside and exercise... who says we don't? This is just one more avenue of fun that the family can do together. Does flopping on the couch in front of the TV really count as quality time?
Also, this thread is full of 67 year olds and nursing home residents that say they love the system. What other video game console EVER has been that popular across the generations? Artificial shortage created by Nintendo? Baloney. Grandmom is playing tennis and racing cows with her five year old grandson. That is fantastic for both of them. Is Grandma on the XBox playing World of Warcraft or Zelda? I think not.
I do notice that most people who are down on it, don't own Wii at all and have no intention of getting one. Sort of like how I feel about IPods.
I've been using the Wii Fit for 3 days now and it IS a motivator. I'm 56 and can use the exercise. I've never attempted Yoga until now. My legs are feeling the burn after trying out a variety of exercises. I'm a heavy guy and I was worried the Wii Fit would be unstable. It's very solid.
Two improvements I suggest:
1. A inexpensive wrist band type of controller with just the buttons needed to play Wii Fit like "A" button
2. Be able to select different types of music on the running/jogging game.
Good job Nintendo!

Yes I have used it for around half an hour a day after dinner.
No I don't think I would lose weight using the Wii as I only play the "games". and they a only require small movements. I have champion status in them all
I am slightly warmer after half on a hour but not tired in anyway. At that rate you may lose a max of half a kilo a month. I am 6ft and weigh 80 kilos
The fitness ones such as aerobics are engaging as you want to get a better score, but does not feel much different from any other fitness machine in that regard, as it ultimately requires the user to be motivated.
A great improvement would be to run a variety of games for a period keyed in like half an hour and get your wii fit age at the end.
Or load up all the games for a half hour so you don't have to hold the wiimote and keep pressing buttons, as motivation is easily lost.
So all in all it is grreat addition to getting fitter and i love it but falls short of a complete fitness regime because of too many menus
Yes. did a demo and want to snow board really bad! also want the wii fit
At first had held off until I experienced it...in the beginning said no no no i don't wanna get a wii wii wii! Now I say please please please come down off that price.
Maybe. (What’s stopping you?)...we have 2 ps2's we just paid for refurbs w/in last year since had run down..loads of games w/ game-stop membership loads of DS games as well w/ 1 broken ds and one working D's lite.
We've planned on selling all our pscache and
to further justify:
I've decided on Wii instead of that elliptical and tread mill i wanted so bad, wish i had not got the teeter gizmo from hsn...that's the cost of the wii right there! and all i can do is hang upside down safely?
so i'll only be waiting for the complete and final sell of all PS junk before i pick up our wii.
I had no trouble getting the system and pre-ordred theWii fit. i am 62 and am using it to build up strength after a large weightloss. i also play with my grandson who thinks i'm cool!
I personally used Wii Fit to recover & re-hab from a near death auto crash. I was Paralyzed temporarily on my left side. That left my balance in dire straights. The Wii Fit balance activities were of great importance in my recovery. The excercising in Fit was enjoyable and useful. If you are competitive at all, this is an excellent tool to get the blood flowing and will to excel in gear. Thanks Nintendo...
