I know that am a free software fanboi (free as in freedom and free as in cheap *******!) but the Splashtop technology is something that people are looking forward to (especially those that boot Windows, then even wait for their AVG updates and similiar things apply themselves): quicker access to their computer.
"Splashtop just announced that Asus will be expanding the desktop to the P5Q motherboard family and later on to all Asus motherboards. That's embedded Linux shipping over a million motherboards a month!"
Instead of leaving your computer running needlessly all day just so you can check for email every hour or so, ExpressGate offers a clean and quick solution for those who just need to use a browser to surf/check email, and an IM like Skype (dont worry, im sure they can add Twitter as well!).

or you can just Google for Splashtop and the dozens of articles:

I can't tell which this comment was. It seems to lean more towards commercial advertisement.
So yu want mor splelling erors and no links nex time to make it look less beterer?
While this is not the greatest invention since sliced bread, slow bootup times ARE (and have been) a universal problem with computers, more so on Windows, so I have to put this up there as the hardware product this year which will most impact how you interact with your computer. No HD, cpu, monitor, video card or other computer component can say that.
Not only are all ASUS motherboards going to have Splashtop onboard but ASUS just signed a deal this week to bring this technology to some of their new laptop series as well:

I rarely get excited at new hardware annoucenements but whenever I have to boot into Windows, I have time to go to the kitchen and make myself a sandwich while everything boots up, the AVG has updated and so on. I think I might lose quite a few pounds just by not having so much idle time waiting to check for my email. Hey, Im trying to justify to myself replacing my 8 month old mobo and this convoluted reasoning might just work.
THis has to be some of the coolest news to come out of a hardware vendor in quite a while. I say bravo. I for sure will be buying Asus mobo's in the near future.
