Create Login page for my wireless router?

by tommyg562000 - 5/19/08 7:15 PM

I want to know how I can let people use my connection but force them to create a user name and password to use my internet (wireless internet). I want them to be able to connect to my router but when they open IE or firefox they will be directed to a login page and wont be able to surf until they provide their username and password. Can anybody help?

You have to install an OS that will assign addresses using DHCPCD.

Two options

Two options exist to you. The first is to buy a more expensive commercial access point device, and the second is to get a router that you can install DD-WRT onto, and not just the mini or micro distributions of DD-WRT.

If you go the DD-WRT route, you'll want to check their supported hardware list, and make sure to get a router on that list with at least 4MB of flash RAM.

You're not going to do this with just any off the shelf router though.

Thanks for the help. It's a lot more difficult than I wanted it to be. At least I know how to do it now!
