What a perfect metaphor--so succinct. Thank you.

why 0 apples?

by verschoor2 - 5/16/08 7:05 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I do not own an Apple product simply because I have found other ways of meeting my media and communication needs. I have A707 Samsung cell which with a 2 gig microchip installed contains 30 hours of my favorite tunes. When I do a road trip I plug the phone into my car charger, send the tunes to my car radio with a wire and I have 30 hours worth of my favorite sounds. So no need for an I-pod here. Have bluetooth on my computer and a portable blootooth speaker so my music can follow me in different locations(up to 30 feet) of my house. If I want to go further away the A707 has bluetooth and it also plays through the speaker. If I want more music I would just buy another microchip and fill it. I have X-M thanks to my direcTV package so music of various genres streams into my house. Other than music I would never consider buying an Apple product because of the propietary nature of all their software even though I consider their computer superior to windows units.

I have none of that.

I'm not a music fanatic. When I go anywhere I prefer the sounds of reality. Somehow it seems like you do a better job of driving when you know what is going on around you. When I am on a road trip and I want to hear something besides road sounds, I find a side road and pull off to get out of the vehicle and listen to the wind in the brush and the trees, and whatever animals happen to be around. If I had a music machine it would be melted to a curly lump in the glovebox.

At the risk of sounding like some kind of obsessive collector, we have 10 iPods, 3 PowerBooks, a MacBook Pro, a green iMac, a pink iMac, a Mac Classic, a G5, and an Intel iMac... can't have too many Apple Electronic Products...

How many Apple electronic products do I own?

by Bevoswaterboy - 5/17/08 7:45 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

NONE! My grandsons own them all, many of them bought by me as presents. I've never seen a need for an Apple product for me (my PC is a Dell).

Give it a try

by ehsanhd - 5/18/08 5:39 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do I own? by Bevoswaterboy

Well i suggest you to give a try to Apple products. Not a specific one, for example you talked about your computer Dell. Well me also i have a Dell but i just bought a Macbook Pro laptop & i feel that i can't even compare these two in every aspect like performance, beauty & everything else.

Apple products are just so simple to use & nearly perfect !

apple products

by Wil7ech - 5/17/08 10:43 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

i have an ipod nano 1G
and a macbook and im very pleased,
i also own a windows desktop
and i still use it for the very very few things like
free conversion software, that theres few of for mac.
my mac runs everything ive thrown at it from AOE3 to WOW to TurboCAD
so its a very nimble machine. again i use the mac to create and do basicly everything i do during the day
and then if i hit a snag with compatibility i just use my PC. GET A MAC, especially those who want
to create music and media that already have windows.

Two (and will be 3 in a few months ...)

by CalicoTude - 5/17/08 10:48 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Sofar I own a MacBook (Leopard) and an iPod Classic 80GB. When my >5 1/2-year old Dell (currently running XP-Pro, SP2) fails, it will be replaced with a Mac. Getting used to Leopard on the MacBook was not that hard; found it easier than getting used to the laptop keyboard (although it has an easier-to-use keyboard than the ones I tried in stores when I was only interested in PCs).

Don't own any apple stuff

by dukethepcdr - 5/18/08 1:06 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have an mp3 player, but it's not an IPod. Actually, I kinda have two since I have a Max Media Player for my Nintendo DS and a free mp3 player that came with my DVD of Transformers at Blockbuster. Ipods are overpriced and they require you to get music from Itunes. Apple is even more monopolistic than Microsoft with all their overpriced proprietary stuff, yet they are liberal and support liberal causes more than Microsoft, so they get away with it. Not fair. Also, try finding games for Apple in stores. The main thing I use computer for besides surfing the next is games. Apple games are either just the same only more expensive than Windows compatible games, or they are really hard to find and only at specialty stores like Fry's and online.

I once had Quicktime which is also from Apple on my PC since I had to download it to see a video. Got rid of it soon after though because it kept bugging me for updates. I like my video players to stay quiet and run in the background.

none

by casaraku - 5/18/08 5:15 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

i do not wish to go to the dark side not that i love pc
but the fact that at least those all over the world who have
technology, it is easier to access PC software/freeware or
Linux. My image of apple people is my people, american (yes gates is also american),snob appeal, money, not likely into health or the environment...An image from those around my town.
I.E. not accessible to middle or lower classes around the world

Let's change things

by ehsanhd - 5/18/08 5:43 PM In reply to: none by casaraku

till several months ago i used to think like you but i saw that there are more & people buying Apple products. What that means? means that the prices will drom (Macbook Pro's price drop for example) so more people will have this possibility to afford & things will change faster than before.

Do you think that PCs were this cheap before? no they were expensive too :)

1-2, hoping for more

by iwuzbord - 5/19/08 6:12 PM In reply to: How many Apple electronic products do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

o only own 1-2 apple products. I would own more, but money continues to be an issue. My first investment into the apple world was my 30gb 5th gen video. ive loved it and the way it just works. I was reading a few of the earlier posts to the thread and mainly realized that the people who owned no products mainly due to issues with the hardware and how it was proprietary. The reason apple does this is to ensure that everything will work without fail or sever problems. The reason Windows is facing such a dilemma with the launch of Vista is because of the connections between operating system and hardware, then hardware to other software. Apple is so successful with a loyal fan base because they know that if they buy one apple product, it will work with all the others. The fact that in the apple market chain there is only one provider for hardware and operating system, they can ensure that there will be no mis-communication between the operating system and hardware, ensuring a better experience for the end-user.

(btw, my next apple product is going to be a macbook (black)
