I would never buy anything with an 'i' prefix - I just hate that overpriced stuff
I replied none too. Macs are great machines. However, their marketing alienates me, as do many of their users. The Mac user base comes across as almost 'cult-like'.
When you by Apple, you're not buying a computer or MP3 player, your buying into the apple 'experience'.
When I first got into computers in the mid eighties Apple just didn't have the software I required. I got bitten by the PC Bug and never looked at Apple after that.
at school we only have apple macs and they are really really really really really really slow and bad, so I refuse to support apple in any way at all, so I won't ever buy an apple product
512K Fat Mac, Macintosh ci, PowerBook G3, PowerBook G4, MacBook Pro, PowerMac 3400, Macintosh si, Apple Color Display, Apple Scanner 6400/300, 1st Generation iPod, 5th Generation iPod, APple Laserwriter II NTX, various keyboards and mice, Apple Airport Extreme Base [and, as soon as the 3G iPhone is available, I'll get it)
I have 1. It is an old Ipod shuffle. 512 Mb. I still use it.
I have always been impressed and fascinated by Apple products since the first Macintosh, but my company's use of the IBM-PC and the experience in Microsoft software more or less dictated the direction of my private PC investment. However, seeing the new Imac with 3Ghz. and 24" screen, I am seriously considering making the leap, especially when the reviews state that running Windows on the Mac is more stable than on native Windows computers.
1 Mac Pro
2 iBooks (a G3 and a G4)
3 iPods
1 iPhone bluetooth headset
1 Apple travel charger kit
1 set of Apple earbuds
3 boxes of Apple software (iLife and OS's)
I have been using PCs for 30 years. The older I get, the less interested I am in spending time fixing computer problems for our family. We own a new iMac, a new MacBook, a Time Machine and two older iPods.
Until recently, Apple products were very much overpriced compared to Windows machines. That is no longer true if you compare. A high end Windows laptop is often more than the comparable Apple machine.
I manage a network of computers at my church. We have 12 Apples and a Windows server and two Windows PCs for the software that will only run under Windows. It is a very stable network and only requires routine maintenance and repair of older machines. We have working Apple machines that are more than 10 years old.
I think the closed architecture of Apple machines is the reason they don't cause as many problems. They don't have to worry about 3rd party parts as much. The Microsoft introduction of Vista has caused a nightmare with the absence of some drivers for third party hardware.
I suspect I will always have one Windows machine at home, as some applications only work there.
Nice gift, but the dang things are fragile. I'm an over 40 manager that carries it in a laptop bag. How in the heck do kids keep the things alive? Now that the Applecare has expired, the next time it dies I'm going back to Creative, Iriver or Zune.
I like to build & upgrade my own PC, so their computers do not attract me.
Overpriced products (even more in Brazil), restrictive maintenance, restrictive hardware/software.
Besides, I do not feel the necessity to have any of Apple products.
Why spend that kind of $$ when there ar products available that are as good and in most cases, better. I'm too old for ego trips and to have the latest electronic gadget
Apple makes some nice products and their prices are not objectionable to me.
But they are sly little dastards.
When I see an Apple product promotion I hear a little voice whispering into my ear "welcome into my web"...
And how easily they get that web to stick to you...
Recent experience;
Some product or email (I don't remember)required I download Quicktime (free)to open their app. OK - I do. Now I get update reminders to update Quicktime AND iTunes. Eventually iTunes gets installed for free. Now I'm getting Apple emails from iTunes. I get an attractive offer for Pink Floyd new Box set. I say, "what the heck?" and purchase it.
Whoa!!!
Shame On Me.
The New Box Set is the same as the Old Box Set - only the New has all these spiffy things that you get with it. Of course a download results in only getting the music - which is the Old Box Set. No Bargain At All when $150 just for the tunes.
Oh well.
Now try to listen to it on my mp3player, Ha! On my htc Touch phone? Ha!
Only if I download iTunes on a computer OR purchase Apple phone or player can I enjoy my music purchased from Apple.

Don't enjoy little bud things stuffed into my ears...listen to birds when I walk. Hate cell phones, use for emergencies. Love my PC. Don't want to join a cult with arrogant leaders.
