Sorting Files By Type With Vista
by Card Shark - 5/13/08 7:08 AMHello there, I enjoy arranging all my files, pictures etc... By type. These Vista doesn't even have it int he right click options but you choose more options and then select it from the list, ok.
It will only last about a week and all my damn files are back sorted by name again and not by type. Then I have to go back through all that crap again and selt it from the list. XP had it right there in the right click options all the time and it didn't switch it back. Is there a way to keep it showing up in the right click list all the time and not reverting back? This is aggrivating as hell and one thing I hate about Vista is how it does the files.

Try the old method of closing Explorer. Press, hold the control key and then click on the X in the top right of the explorer window to tell Windows to remember it.
This sort order is easily corrupted by using say any Office software and changing the view while you use the open file dialog box. I have yet to read the MS considers this to be a bug.
