Is it my LG VX8600 cellphone or my bluetooth device?

by TotalHosting - 5/11/08 5:59 PM

Hi All.

I have the hardest time connecting my LG VX8600 phone to my Tekkeon ET6000 bluetooth speaker.

It took a few tries, but once it was discovered by my VX8600, getting to connect or stay connected seems like a total matter of chance.

I tend to believe it is my phone over the accessory. But getting Verizon to do anything about it seems like an even bigger exercise if futility.

Everyone that has tried my Tekkeon has had no trouble discovering, connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting.

I have tried a few other BT devices with my VX8600, but with little success.

I have had a local Verizon store upgrade me to the latest (as of 2 or 3 months ago) software on the phone.

Is there any way to improve my BT connectivity or do I just wait until my contract runs out in October and get a new phone?

Has anyone done any device compatibility with the current line of phones from the major carriers?

That would be a useful guide (hint, hint).

Pete

I'm guessing it is the phone/software

I feel it is definitely something with the phone/software. I have tried to connect 3 different bluetooth devices (2 different model speakerphones, 1 stereo headset) to my Verizon LG VX8600, with patchy results. After I managed to pair the devices, they connect on very rare occasion, usually after I turn off the phone, pop off the battery, and power up again. If the auto connect doesn't work, I try to manually connect thru the menus. It will spend a minute searching for the device, and give me a message stating the device is either out of range or not powered on. And the device will be sitting within a foot of the phone, ready light blinking away! My friends have had no problems connecting to my devices with other model phones/carriers.

Guess it will be a battle with Verizon or get a new phone.
