Vista is Amazing!

by goldfalcon108 - 5/8/08 12:20 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I have used Vista for over a year and a half and i love it! almost every feature has been upgraded and/or simplified from xp and they all work better. i can't stand to go back to using my xp computers. so far i have not run into any issues related to drivers and i don't imagine anything coming up in the future. I have just finished my freshman year of college and vista worked extremely well for me.

I Love It

by x360lover - 5/8/08 12:34 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I also silently love Windows Vista. I bought Windows Vista Business in like April or so and I love it so much that I'm so glad I switched to it. I hate how people complain about it so much because there is nothing wrong about it. People just got to realize Vista wasn't meant for crappy computers it was meant for fast ones. I like that it is safer because I got viruses like every week in XP and I like the new theme but I didn't mind that much about the Luna theme from XP. I also like how Vista is fast well at least for my computer and I didn't really tweak it and I only have between like 40-45 processes. I had more processes in XP. I also have the Vista SP1 which didn't do that much but still it's better. But it is also fast for my computer because I have 4GB of ram, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+, Nvidia 8800GT, X-FI, Physx Accelerator, etc running on a Dell E521. Anyway this is some ways I love Vista silently and how great it is compared to Windows XP Professional which is the one I had. Also does anyone know how to get the Luna theme on Vista because I can't because Vista's is theme file vs. mss styles?

It Costs me more money to run than XP

by wes1111 - 5/8/08 12:37 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

It is more expensive to own something that does not work as it should.

Vista is Much Improved

by mdcmje2 - 5/8/08 12:37 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

At first, I did not like Vista (incompatibilities, etc.). Now that they put out SP1, and other software companies are making programs to run under Vista, I'm happier with it.

It's very stable. Seems that the security features are better. I had more problems with previous operating systems, including XP. At first, I wanted to switch back, but stayed with Vista, and it's working good.

best thing since sliced bread

by michael.gillott - 5/8/08 12:43 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I bought Vista as soon as it came out here in the U K, no crashes or major glitches and I have not had to wipe my machine in one and a half years, its more stable than X P and asked I would not go back to X P , there are so many features on Vista I could write all night, as for scare stories about drivers, just one, my Ethernet would not work for the first couple of days so I went through my modem , the computer received and update and the Ethernet worked, job done.
I have had no problem with games either, I think the message is to make sure you have 1 GB of memory at least.

I HATE VISTA!

by r5w - 5/8/08 12:50 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

Lots of software incompatibilites. I cannot even run a COMPLIED Fortran program - any program! Also, it will not let me install software prepared with Windows XP Developer - to name just two issues

Silent Vista-loving majority

by mab12464 - 5/8/08 1:00 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I am very impressed with Vista HOME premium. There are many safe guards which keep you from making mistakes with a click of the botton.
The only two issues I have since I've had Vista is that at the Startup my Wireless Microsoft Mouse hangs up on the Desktop until you keep moving the Mouse around. Also I have an HP all-in-one printer t-45 series that Vista has directed me to the manufacturer for driver updates. HP stated they had no driver updates for Vista and that I needed to buy another printer. I fooled around searching on HP anyway looking for drivers and found some which were combatible with my printer. The reason I mentioned this is because this was not a Vista problem. It was a matter of the Manufacturer not keeping up with the new versions of Vista. Like yourself, I agree that all versions of most programs iron the glitches with updates and fixes. I wouldn't change my decision purchasing Vista ever. I am a happy Camper.
Respectively, mab12464

Same Type of Printer Issue

by PressAnyKey - 5/8/08 1:03 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority by mab12464

I have an older HP laser printer but was able to get it working with Vista by using the driver for a newer printer that was similar.

Runs Vista Ultimate on 4 machines, wouldn't go back to XP...

by Beenk - 5/8/08 1:00 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

Wouldn't go back to XP if you paid me.

4 machines at home, primary work machine is x64.

All vista.

I start hearing podcasters who talk about vista stinks, I unsubscribe and move to other places.

We need to create a vista lovers/haters gadget for the sidebar.

Ed Bott loves vista, everyone go visit his webpages and give him your support.

LOVE VISTA

by andyslaptop - 5/8/08 1:03 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

Use Vista on four machines. Have XP on one (the one that always crashes) and at work. XP crashes there often as well. Can't wait till they dump XP!

Vista Rocks

by lukamus - 5/8/08 1:06 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

Windows Vista is the best OS out there
I have had absolutely NO technical problems or compatibility issues with it
I have several games, hardware, and software that are all made for XP, and none of them have had any issues
I have never found it slow or freezing, i have at least 2GB of RAM and a 2.4GHZ dual core processor and it works perfect
i would say, don't go with the market PCs, and just build your own for max. Vista performace

YES I AM....

by lolbobjoe - 5/8/08 1:07 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

Despite some annoyances such as a longer time required to log on and occasional crashing, it is better designed visually and the ending task is a lot mor eefficient. There are some errors, usually due to the negligence of the owner to check what is vista-compatible and what isnt. Also, most of the newer software+ hardware is tilting more towards vista. (ex. certain types of sli)

I'm happy, but only in 64-bits!!!

by scottwilkins - 5/8/08 1:11 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I love Vista, not perfectly, but I do love it. BUT, only when I'm using it in 64-bit versions. The 64-bit realm is so much more solid and trouble free, it's silly more people haven't gone this route.

I do have recommendations for hardware if you want to go 64-bit. Either pure Intel, or pure AMD/ATI or a mix of only those 2. For some reason nVidia just hasn't got the driver issues worked out of their 64-bit attempts. Only those I've seen that have failed in 64-bits have been due to nVidia hardware somewhere in their system. Just doesn't look good for them right now.

Any other frustrations I have are of 2 types. One, Microsoft did change a LOT in Vista. Almost too much. I'm getting used to it now, and do like most of the changes. But others are just too much. Personally I think this is the main reason why Vista is disliked. Second is driver issues, both in 32 and 64 bits. Too many hardware companies are just lazy and not doing due diligence in driver writing for Vista, which requires 64-bit support to get certified. Just plain lazy, IMHO.

Anyway, if you want the best experience from Vista, go 64-bits. Period.

I love Vista!

by Ron6342 - 5/8/08 1:11 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I love Windows Vista and I'm not afraid to admit it! I'm sure I must have been one of the first to upgrade my Dell laptop from XP to Vista last year and I can honestly say it went smoothly and easily, with just a few minor driver problems that were easily solved in the first month after installation. (I have since bought a new desktop with Vista also and have had no problems, even after installing the SP1 update.)

I love the way Vista looks and interacts with the user. I quickly became used to the new desktop GUI and now I prefer it over older and seemingly outdated OSs like XP. The quick search feature of the start menu is my favorite, I hate it when I have to go back to an XP machine and plow through the menus looking for a program I know is there somewhere. Now I just type the first three letters of the program and there it is. Just hit enter and it launches. How can that be any easier? The new file system (Windows explorer) took some getting used to, but now that I know it's features and how it works, I can just as easily find, move, and copy files as before.

I think there has been a lot of negative and undeserved press about Vista. I hear a lot of geeks complain about it at the college I attend, but when you press them on it, you find they're just repeating what they've been told and they have no hands on experience with Vista of their own. It seems everyone wants’ to pile on Vista (and Microsoft), but most of it is just posturing and has no real basis of fact. (I also have a Linux box, so don’t go there.)

Have not Tried it and NEVER, EVER Will!

by jmsblntn - 5/8/08 1:23 PM In reply to: Silent Vista-loving majority? by chustar

I am of the opinion, after much online and offline research; that Vista is an abomination and that it should be consigned to the trash heap of oblivion!
