Lenses that work with Olympus E 510

by skillsman - 5/6/08 2:49 PM

I recently bought the Olympus EVOLT E-510 with 14-42mm / 40-150mm Lenses and i was wondering what are some other brands of lenses that could work with this camera. I'm also on a budget and i would like to do some marco as well as long range shots.. I'm really looking for maybe 2 or 3 lenses for the most at a good price. I am also considering buying a flash for this camera and would like to know if there are any cheaper models that i can buy..

Sigma probably has the biggest selection for the Olympus 4:3 lens system.

Could you help me in choosing which macro and long range lens to buy.. macro for flowers and insects and a good but not to far long range lens... Do you know of any sites where people trade in lenses and you can buy used lenses for Olympus E 510

The link I gave you has used photographic equipment for sale.
Click the "Used Equipment" button near the top of that page.

That link I gave you shows an excellent macro lens (2nd one down).
It is rated "life size 1:1", which is as good as it gets for macro.

I think you already have a good long range lens.
You have one that is rated 150mm.
When fitted to your camera, it sees that lens as being 300mm.
Few people need a focal length further than that.

If you are looking for bargain lenses, you are not likely to find many for your camera. Good lenses do not depreciate much.

Macro lens choices

Olympus makes 2 macro lenses under the Zuiko digital line. The 50 mm is fast and wonderful, but pricey (over 4 benjamins). The 35 mm is quite good, and much cheaper (<2 hundred). Unless you really start to push the envelope, you will be very happy with the 35mm.
