Veeeerrry interesting. I like. You all look great, and I like the occasional cut to the websites on the monitor. I do miss the amateurism of the ustream from the audio studio, but what the hell. Grow. Change. Leave. Get married. Have children. I approve.
I haven't seen the video version, but I didn't think the audio version sounded quite as good as normal, there just seemed to be a bit more white noise, and Tom sounded kinda different (though that could just be from the mixer EQ). Still video sounds interesting, but I have to say, I prefer audio.
All said and done, it's a different room with different mics and processing than the audio studio so no matter what, it will sound different from what you are used to... BUT...
I agree, it's sounds too airy. I have a few fixes in the works that will hopefully take care of that. Look for improvements next Friday.
it's in beta
How many cameras are you using for this? Looks like at least 3. Are you switching the cameras live or editing the individual track later? Sorry for all the questions but it looks great and I'm so interested in how you get it done.
We have a gib and two others on lockdown, plus an overhead camera. The show is switched live from the control room.
you guys are so famous!! you're totally going to be on discoveryHD in no time... move over Pogue!
I take it you're still producing then, which is good
But I hope you're on screen too! May I ask what you use for recording in the studio/set, in terms of mixer desk, program, etc? (I'm a sound techie for my church and produce their podcast, so I love these kind of things!)
It's currently in flux. We have a Mackie mixer that is handling the audio mixing in the control room which, since I'm out on the set, I'm not manning during the show... The mixer is old and is now being replaced by a Yamaha 01V if memory serves. I'm also hoping to score a few gate/expander mic channels for the inputs to help eliminate all of that background hiss that you'll hear on Friday's episode. There was a full-mix limiter that was activated during the recording of that show, and all it did was make our voices sound crunchy and bring up the fan noise from a piece of gear in the studio... hence the background noise.
Sounds like it's going to be quite good once you've got all the new equipment. What do you use in the audio studio?
@ raygun01: This is very cool stuff you guys are working on, perhaps the live feed is too much for my DSL connection, so the hiccups weren't doing justice to BOL, so I'll check back for the edited version. rock on!
@DaveBinM: I too do the sound recording for my church. Working with pretty old analog stuff, looking to make serious capital upgrades, but am working towards getting podcasts up ASAP, would love to talk shop. get me anytime @ radioned at gmail DOT com
cheers!

I don't know how I feel about the video version. I don't know if I like the set. It looks like you guys are in some spooky void and gathered to discuss something evil. Seriously, the three of you at that table look like a scene out of Batman.
I love that you're doing video and can't wait to see more. Keep it up. Keep testing new ideas.
It was great fun. Probably shouldn't say this but.....I think the show has gotten even better since the advent of the live video feeds on WatchBOL. Consider this: how energized would the average person become if they arrived at work each day to find a few hundred fans waiting, all shouting 'hi, loved your ----' and excitedly responding to everything they said? *grin*
I'm confident that Jason will soon iron out the little audio hiccups - it's beta.;-)

Finally! B-O-L on V-I-D!
I've been dying to see facial reactions! The live stream just wasn't cutting it for me with constant buffering and low-quality grade.
Anyhow, if you need me to raise funds for a larger "white table" for your computers to actually sit-on instead of balance on the edge like a fat kid on a diving board, just let me know! ![]()
hahahah that was freakin awesome! go guys! u even have a new logo n sweet studio szetup. me love!
