What is the difference between "Motorola V3xx VERSION 1" and the "Motorola V3xx" ???
Both are for AT&T.
They are NOT unlocked.
They are NEW (not refurbished)
I found this on the Amazon web site: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=search-alias%3Dwireless-phones&field-keywords=v3xx&x=0&y=0
I called Motorola and they do NOT know anything about the "Version 1" model of their own V3xx !!!
I looked at the images of the phone. My guess is that Version 1, you can customize the left and right buttons on the top. This was probably the first version out that CNET mentioned in their reviews.

Version 1 is NOT a World phone.
Unknown if you can add 2 gig Micro SD card.
The version that's NOT Version 1...
Cannot customize left and right top buttons.
Is now a World phone.
Access to AT&T's 3G network
I think it has to do with the ATT sim card. I had to get a new ATT sim card with mine.
You can also add a 2 gig Micro SD card to this version.

Hi Rick,
Thank you for your note. Since I am not really familiar with the Motorola product line, I bet that you're correct.
I went back and looked at the photos closely. To me, the two phones (at least, the lavender ones) looked virtually the same; perhaps, they simply used a copy of the same photo when they generated the review. However, I DO see a difference comparing the photos of the V3 (i.e., without the "xx") against the V3xx. Specifically, the front of the V3xx has a different positioning of the camera lens at the top, as compared to the V3. And, the upper buttons on the opened photos look different on the V3 as compared to the V3xx. But, again, the photos look identical when comparing the V3xx against the V3xx Version 1 --- which are the ones in question. Can you please tell me where in the photos of the V3xx and the V3xx Version 1 the differences are seen? Thanks again, Rick, David.
The version I have I took a picture. It's NOT a clear picture but you can compare the current one. Picture can be found here. See the menu. On this phone, the menu buttons cannot be customized. On my Razr V3, I could customize them. Instead of havinf options and Main Menu, I had Camera and Calc, which I used the calculator a lot.
Here's what I noted that's different between the Razr V3 and the Razr V3xx.
Cannot customize main screen top buttons.
The buttons above the numeric pad are all different.
Push the voice record key and you can give the phone voice commands, for hands free dialing.
A little longer.
More phone memory.(59.8MB)Can add 2gig Micro SD card. Phone can check for updates.
Can no longer access the network to see what bands the phone uses.
Sound quality much better. Has Playlist function. To use a song as a ringtone, I still use Motorola Phone tools and upload 30 second edited songs. It will NOT play whole song as ringtone or message tone. Can send from SD card to Phone and back as well as sim card. Text messages can be stored on sim card.
Sending text is faster.(3g network)
No FREE Games, all Demos.
No more Siren, Continental ringtones. I miss the siren one. I work in noisy environment and could actually hear that ringtone.
You can make voice records and send them.
You can actually lock all of the buttons so you don't accidentally go on the internet. The Razr V3 left you go online. Button could NOT be locked.
Speaker phone works differently. On the Razr V3, I used to click on Speaker phone close it and stick it in my pocket. I would walk through the store talking to my wife. On the Razr V3xx, the first time I tried this, closing the phone disconnects you. Wife thought I hung up on her.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
Rick
I know some one that has this so called version 1. The main difference is that in version one when you open it and look at the folder henge it is flat and in the other version it is round. That is the main thing that I know. I can also say that when I was looking at the phone on the net before I bought it, one manual said that it had what's called video calling but in a manual from AT&T it does not have that feature. I looked at the persons phone that is like version 1 and I do not find that video calling feature. I think that the other different is that the material it is made out of. Mine is like mettle it gets cold easy and the other one does not appear to get cold easy. As far as what I think about the two, I don't like the version 1.
Hi Rick and, also, Scott,
Thank you for your time and for your comments!! This forum is really neat!
I looked carefully at the photos on the web based on both your comments. I think that they may have been sloppy in choosing which photos to show (in the views were the phone is opened), because, in some cases, the "Version 1" had a rounded hinge, while in other cases, the Version 1 has a flattened hinge. Also, in some cases, the "Version 1" has a chrome mouthpiece, while in other cases, the mouthpiece appeared dark (maybe, plastic?). Also, the keys near the top scanning device seemed to be different: In some cases, the left-hand key had a Cingular logo, and, in other cases, it looked like the AT&T logo, and, in yet another case, it had an envelope icon. Moreover, the right-hand key had a "CV" logo in some cases, and, a half-circle (semi-circle) in other cases. It's still confusing, but, thanks to you both, I knew where to look for these subtle differences...still don't know for sure which is which, and, also, what they mean (since I'm new to Motorola!). Finally, (for Rick), thank you for taking the time to take a photo of your phone! I may be wrong, but, it seems that you may be comparing the V3 with the V3xx (I think, based on your photo), instead of the V3xx with the "V3xx-VERSION 1" --- please correct me if I misinterpreted things... Again, thanks to you both! Regards, David
