Hi folks,
hope you can help. I seem to keep losing my audio drivers -- I have updated my Dell drivers. But the problem seems to be with speakers drivers. I've tried updating using the original XP disk from Dell. I've tried all the Dell troubleshooters and even got an online tech help suggestion(delete audio drivers and reinstall.) I did that but it does not stick. Sometimes I get sound and then it is gone again. Is is a software conflict? Or hardware? Suggestions are welcome.
I've yet to find "speaker" drivers. Can you tell the make/model of these speakers?
Bob
It is now 2007 and my dell 8200 appears to have the same problem as yours. It looks to me like a HW problem. It came and went several times, I reloaded the drivers and it appeared to fix the problem but I think it is really a HW issue all along. Now nothing seems to work. If you get this and have found a solution please let me know.
I've had a similar problem on a Dell Desktop. It's a Dimension 4600. The sound worked fine for years then one day the computer went silent. I've tried to find some kind of speaker driver file--couldn't. I can't find the speakers in the device manager at all. I wonder if I just got a new pair of speakers if they would work--or if it's something more sinister in the machine?
