Your system should find SP1 automatically and download it. Right click on "computer" and click on "properties." Then click on "Windows Update" to see if Vista SP1 comes up.
I have opted for automated updates, but Vista SP1 has failed on four attemtps to install on my notebook. What to do?
Over in our Vista forum we discussed such so I won't duplicate it here.
I can not complete the installation of the sp1. Can you tell me what i need to do to get past the error message and install the sp1
Make sure that all drivers are up to date .
Hi all
ive been having the same problems as experienced in this thread. I have not rebuilt my machine at all. I tried the driver updates etc.. but this didnt work and i couldnt see it working anyway due to the symptoms. I even tried msconfig and not loading anything on startup thinking something was locking the driver/camera.
I have an A200/G01 .. the camera worked maybe once or twice since i bought it and then after that never again and even after a reboot wouldnt work.
Everyones laptop software configs are different so what i will share below may or may not work. I have since solved the "in use or camera not plugged in" problem (regardless of software using like windows live msger or yahoo or even the builtin software it came with).
What i realised is that im working with a laptop .. ie.. lots and lots of power settings to conserve power. what i found was the power setting i was on had "suspend USB when not in use" setting was enabled. IE.. i would turn the laptop on ..camera not in use .. so it suspends it that is to say like turns it off. Now the camera cant be turned on manually in my case so this left the camera useless. I have since disabled this setting well to be honest i changed my power setting to HIGH PERFORMANCE and customised it to make sure everything was turned on!! or enabled or made it so that nothing turned off etc.. i ahve been using my camera at any time at any will working like a dream.. at any stage the camera works really well. So then after that you can go back and customise the power settings. Its a good way to test the laptop / camera at full config at full power. also the laptop can drop the voltage of devices to conserve power and if the camera needs it then u got issues too so try that and see if it works .. ive been using mine weeks on end with no problem and pretty damm happy of my troubleshooting skills.
I also had the "black screen" problem where the camera was working but it was a black screen after a while .. i found out that this is a light issue. the camera isnt the highest of quality and minimal control over it.. if u leave the camera with black screen and go turn on lights or open curtains ull see it wakes it up.. i realised this when the black screen wasnt as it seemed .. i could see something moving (me!!) if i looked carefully.. then turned more lights on and HELLO!! the camera showed picture again, on its own.. thought id share if it helps anyone.. thanks George
should mention that i thought of USB being the problem because its a USB device.
Thanks for the advice. I may need further help when I get around to trying the cam again. Sometimes, when I take a pic, it will show it for 3 or 4 seconds. Now, today, it is no opening at all. The fact that it works for s short time -- does this lead anyone to decide what my problem might be. It says, "graph render fail."
i have toshiba laptop with a built in webcam....It did work and has worked but now doesn't for some reason. Can anyone shed some light onto this for me
