If your computer is very new, return it and get another brand. I had two Toshiba's and neither would work properly so I got an HP. No problems. If it is under warranty call the phone number in your instruction book for help.

Not a neg. about Toshibas

by BrianLevy - 4/20/08 6:12 PM In reply to: Windows Live Messenger by HPJOHN

I just picked up a P200-RT1 from Staples that was discounted to a price that I could not justify replacing the crashed hard drive and dead battery in my Compaq. This is my 3rd Toshiba and 2nd 17" from the company. My 1st is a Libretto 110CT I'd still be using but sadly it is simply too slow to use any longer. The 2nd is a M60 bought I've used for 3 seasons at my business and it has been really good but simply running out of HD space. The P200 has been faultless so far but have had it only a month. Vista has been decent but admittedly before trying the OS, I downloaded SP1 for manual download and it is working better than the rep it seems to have based on reading stuff on the net. Getting onto the web was easier than with XP. Sounds like the problems you are having may be related to Vista more so than the computer and Toshiba should straighten it out for you.

That said, I will not knock HP as it is a 1st rate computer line and if I had not picked up the Toshibas at bargain prices would have chosen HPs.
