I HAVE A NORCENT PT4291-HD TV. I PURCHASED A HD-DVD PLAYER AND UPDATED IT. THE DVD PLAYER WILL NOT PLAY THRU THE HDMI PORT. IT WILL THROUGH THE COMPONENT INPUTS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO USE THE ONE HDMI CABLE AS OPPOSED TO THE FIVE COMPONENTS. NORCENT DOESN'T BOTHER REPLYING TO MY QUESTIONS. IS A NON HDCP TV ABLE TO BE UPDATED? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED..
THANKS TIM
I am just curious. I don't have a BD or HD-dvd player (hence the question); will regular dvd play ok with hdmi connection?
I was just thinking it's the entertainment industry's lost by putting all these restriction in. If my tv doesn't work then I just won't buy/watch any HD media.
They figured home 'piracy', eg. copying Disney HD movies for siblings, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, grandmas, etc would be too much revenue loss. So, as with most businesses, they rip off the best loyal customers who are most likely to buy again and again and ...
They aren't concerned about the professional pirates overseas or domestic.
But the darn thing looks pretty good on regular dvd with an upconverted player (on hdmi connection). So I was just wonder if it works with hd-dvd player.
can only be conveyed in pure digital form between devices that are HDCP enabled. The HDCP handshake ensures that no illegitimate recording device can be inserted between the player and the video monitor.
If you don't stare at a screen for the sole purpose of detecting PQ defects or compare side-by-side with HD, you're right. Most eyes would find upconverted 480p movies pretty darn good, especially for the price!
