If I am not mistaken ä is actually a different character in Scandinavian languages..
I don't think the pronunciation of sväng and svang are the same, at least the four semesters of Norwegian I studied in college taught me that those two sounds are different.
At least Wikipedia covers it well.

Ä and Ö is used in Sweden. In Norway and Denmark we use Æ and Ø. Å is used by us all. Ä/Æ is not pronounced like A, and are indeed separate letters.

Tom and Molly we using the phrase "swang pong" and that was something I did not understand. Then it was transfused to "swang me!" etc.
I still don't get that. Please help me.
